visit parents
for weekend
THE NEIL McGAVIN Award, donated by Neil McGavin of RR 4, Walton, director of the
Ontario Plowmen's Association, was given to Murray Townsend of RR 4, Seaforth. Murray
had the highest score in the Huron County 4-H Plowmen's Club. Presenting the award was
Brian McGavin during the Huron County 4-H Awards Night held In Clinton on November 8.

John and Kim Tharner and Ruthie 'l'hamer
of Kitchener visited on Sunday with their
mother, Huth Thamer•
Steve Huether, Toronto and John Huether,
Guelph spent the weekend at the home of
their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ray Huether.
Don McDonald was soloist at the Sunday
morning service at Duff's United Church.
Margery Huether was organist accompanied
by Phyllis Mitchell and violin.
The Armistice Service will be held this year
at Duff's following the service at the Brussels
cenotaph.
Walton 1 unit meeting is scheduled for this
Wednesday evening in the church basement,
members are reminded of the copper contest.
The annual Turkey Supper, was held this
past Wednesday at Duff's, when over 550
people sat down to a sumptuous meal of
turkey and all the trimmings with a variety of
pies. By all reports everyone enjoyed their
supper.
The Youth group from Walton and
Bluevale churches enjoyed skating at Brus-
sels Arena Sunday evening, later meeting at
the home of a member for a social hour.
There were several people from this area
that attended the open house for Leila
Johnston to Celebrate her 80th birthday. It
was held in Ontario United Church, Clinton.

The Agriculture and Canadian Industries
meeting of the Walton Women's Institute is
to be held in their hall, Wednesday,
November 19. Roll call to be answered by
"My Favorite Beauty Spot in Canada."
This being the grandmother's meeting
members are to bring a grandmother. Guest
speaker will be Judy Jewitt explaining the kit
on farming that the W.I. sponsored.
Richard Knight wins
ROBYN THEEDOM, of Clinton, presented the Robyn Theedom Award to the Champlon 4-H
Horse Showman during the Huron County 4-1-I Awards Night held at Central Huron

were Mrs. Harold McCallum of RR 1, W alton,
Mrs. Stanley Preszcator of Crediton and Mrs.
Terry Ward of Monkton.
Sympathy is extended to Norma Steele in
the loss of her husband Earl Steele.
Mr. and Mrs. Barry Cook and Justin of
Mitchell visited with Helen Byers at Seaforth.

Allan and Mary McTaggart, Goderich, and
Jim McTaggart and Wilda Baillie, Brussels,
were supper guests with Leslie and Yvonne
Knight and family. All attended the Com-
mencement Exercises at Listowel District
Secondary School on Saturday, November 1.
Richard obtained first class honors for
1985-86 and also won the $330 Centennial
Scholarship.
Visitors with Mrs. Mac Engel included
Mrs. David Kerley, Gorrie, Ethel Long.
Brussels and Marilyn Engel, Stratford.
Mrs. Leslie Knight was hostess for the
November Women's Institute meeting. Pres-
ident Mrs. John Vanass opened the meeting
in the usual way.
1t was decided to donate $20 to W ingham
and Area Day Centre for the Homebound and
$15 to the Poppy Fund. The Christmas
meeting is to be a potluck casserole dinner
with Ethel W.I. as guests. It will be held in
the Community Centre and time and date are
to be decided.
Mrs. Donald Petrie gave a report on the
County Rally held in Walton. Mrs. Clare
Veitch, the delegate to the Area Convention
at Maryhill, reported on that meeting. Gerald
Knight and Dwayne Evans gave a report on
their trip to Expo '86 at Vancouver. Gerald
outlined and told about Expo and the
highlights of the other places around
Vancouver. Banff, Lake Louise. 'Edmonton.
and Calgary. Dwayne did a commentary on
the beautiful slides of Expo and places they
had visited. Mrs. Gordon Engel thanked the
boys and presented them with a gift of cash.
There was a good crowd at the Forester's
Family Dance on Friday night and all enjoyed
a good time dancing to the music of Tiffen's
Orchestra.
