The death of Mrs, Annie Kopass, relict of the late Louis Kopass, took place on Monday evening of last week at the residence of her ion, Theodore, on the Elora road, near Mildmay, where she has made her home for some years. Some of the more important evidence related to the cow's disposition while be- ing milked, the testimony on this point being conflicting. Daniel Hermon, a native of Drayton, Ontario, shot and killed Miss Mary Catharine Mulvoll a Chicago heiress, on the Street of that pity and then 03111. flatted snicide. The murderer has been a policeniau in Chicago for several years, aud became infatuated with the heiress through seeing her in the St. James Catholio Church where she was organiet. About two weeks since an old gentle- man named McIntyre, who resides in Ashfield, was walking along the stoop of the house, with two kittens playing around his feet, a white owl swooped down and seized one of the kittens. Mr. McIntyre at once attacked the bird and catching one wing, the owl dropped the kitten, which was dead, and fastened its talons in one of Mr, McIntyre's legs. The old gentleman shouted, and a son was quickly on hand and killed the bird, and it is said his speedy arrival saved his father from serious injury, as the owl measured 48 inches from wing to wing. She had been confined to her bed for a while but noth- ing of a veiy serious character anticipat- ed and she was able to eat her breakfast as usual that morning. A smothering spell followed and the physician was summoned shortly after 9 o'clook but the old lady passed away a few minutes after his arrival. Mrs. Baeker was 78 years of age and had made her home with her daughtelie Mrs. George Baeker, for some time past. She was of German nationality; kindly in her manner and highly esteemed by all who knew her. Deceased was married three times and was the mother of a large family. The remains were taken to Hensell by train and from there conveyed to Zurich, the old home of deceased, where interment was made.
