Golden couple
celebrate golden
anniversary.
At a dinner celebrating their 50th wedding
anniversary Mary and Bill Church were told
they reminded everyone of the precious gold
that is supposed to mark this landmark in a
couple's marriage.
Married on September 19, 1936, Mr. and
Mrs, Church, of RR 4, W alton, celebrated
their Golden Anniversary with 22 members of
their family, with a turkey dinner September
28 at the Golden Lantern Restaurant in
Brussels.
In a tribute, to her uncle and aunt Donna
Smith said the 50 years of sharing and caring
and working together on the farm that is still
their home, serves as a "wonderful example
to all the nieces and nephews" and makes
them all "very proud."
"W e thank God for putting us all together
as a family and for giving you good health to
enjoy this lovely day," she said.
I think the reason they call the 50th
wedding anniversary "gold" is because the
first part is gold - which is very precious.
That's what both of you are to us. G - is for the
good times you've had together; 0 - is for one
day at a time, take time to smell the roses; L-
is for the love you still have for each other; D -
is for the determination to keep on Poing
when the days are dull and dreary; E - is for
the great example you have shown and N • is
