Mr, John Turner, of Varna, has purchased Mr, Sidney Jacob's brick residence and is coming to town to live, On Monday evening last, a Council of the Royal Arcanum was instituted in Seaforth by W .D. 7'awse, Deputy Grand Regent of Ontario, W ,G. Duff was elected Regent for Seaforth and J.S. Roberts, vice-regent. The Royal Arcanum is a fraternal beneficial society, similar in its character to the Ancient Order of United Workmen, and had beyond its social and fraternal features, the payment of $1,500 or$3,000 on the death of a member. The Rev. Members of the Seaforth Troop of Boy Scouts held a treasure hunt Tuesday evening, with 18 boys taking part. The treasure was finally located near the post office by Friel Stewart's patrol. To the ranks of Ontario's heroines, add Edith Storey, 23 -year-old M cKillop Township girl, who, armed with a pitchfork, battled a 1,500 pound bull to save her father's life. Edith, and her 17 -year-old sister Verna, held off the bull, which had gotten loose in barn and was attacking Frank Storey, until a neighbor could arrive to shoot it. SEPTEM 'L8, 1961 Swimming awards were presented by Lions Pool supervisor Hugh Huff, at a meeting of the Lions Club Monday evening. Receiving awards were Bill Rowat, Joan Teall and Monica McCurdy. Seaforth firemen were called to Egmond- ville early Saturday, when a fire was discovered in a chesterfield at the residence of Clair Haney. Chief John F. Scott said damage would amount to $400 and included the chesterfield 'and some damage done by smoke. Total entries at Seaforth Fall Fair exceeded 3,500 a preliminary count showed this week. The weather, however, proved to be too good and attendance dropped about 500 people from last year. The high prize money, $8,800, offered by the Seaforth Agricultural Society, was a factor in the Targe entry, officials say.
