BYGORDON SCOTT, PRO
After holidaying for a month, ,it has taken a
little time to catch up on what has been
happening in the Legion and Community.
The Legion entry in the Queen of the Fair
contest, Miss June Rivers, though not the.
winner was very fleservin of the Legion's
support. It is hoped she enjoyed being in the
competition and is certainly the richer for the
experience. Congratulations June and all the
best in future accomplishments.
In the draws we had at the Fall Fair booth
Karen Dalton of Seaforth was tin winner of
the Legion book which was , .oduced by the
Legion Command in ►+c.ior of the Diamond
Jubilee. Bob McLaughlin was the lucky
winner of the basket of groceries supplied by
the ladies Auxiliary and donated by Lyons
Knechtel Stores. On behalf of the Branch
thanks is extended to all those who helped in
any way in the success of the booth.
On Saturday night the "Ceiligh" was held
at the Legion. Though the crowd was down in
numbers somewhat, the quality of the
entertainment was as good as ever. The Pipe
Band consisted of Charles and Elizabeth
Potter and their daughter Jennifer, Greg,
MacPherson, Watt Webster, Peter Malcohn,
Steve Adams and Mary Ann Scott, Annie
Malcolm and Rosemarie Armstrong sang
solos and the dancing music was provided by
Norm Dunsmore of Kincardine. Lunch was
provided and served by the committee in
charge. Once again on behalf of the Branch
thanks to Peter Malcolm and his committee
for their efforts in bringing this entertain-
ment to the Branch and to those who helped
in any way.
Membership chairman Al Nicholson would
like to remind the members the Early Bird
Campaign will be launched shortly and hopes
to have the cooperation of the members again
this year.

Mulhern exhibition
planned at Blyth
The Blyth Visual Arts Committee is
pleased to present an exhibition of works
entitled, "Music, Masks and Moments" by
local artist Mona Istrati-Muthem. The show
will run September 27 through October 31,
1986, in the Blyth Festival Art Gallery.
• Mona Istrati-Mulhem is a familiar figure
on the Huron County arts scene. She is a well
known Goderich artist, whose work has been
exhibited throughout Ontario. Her studio,
which she named "Serrenwood", provides a
display area for her own work and Mona also
offers it as ashowcase for other local artisans.
Always an active participant in community
art affairs, Mona has been a teacher of visual
arts to every age group.
In the show 'Music, Masks. and Mo-
ments" the artist creates in watercolor,
reflections of nature, interpretations of the
symbolic nature of masks; and also shows the
influence of music as it enhances the imagery
and symbolism. All these elements come
together to provide a delightful experience,
touched with moments of fantasy.
The official opening is on Saturday
September 27. at 7 p.m. The public is invitekd

artist. The Festival Gallery will remain open
weekdays through to October 17 from 9 to 5

One -men comedy
play opens soon
Letter From Wingfield Farm, a hilarious
one-man play, starring actor, Rod Beattie is
being performed at the Blyth Memorial Hall
on Saturday, September 27 at 8 p.m.
This comedy shows us all the fun and
foibles of farm living. The laughs begin when
a corporate executive decides he can find the
simple, unhurried pace he craves in a country
setting. He mistakenly believes he is going to
lead an uncomplicated life as a gentleman
farmer. As the realities of rural life unfold, it
quickly becomes apparent to him that the
"simple" life is not so simple.
This story is crocked full of characters that
are familiar to all of us. They are all portrayed
with great skill by Rod Beattie, whose
versatility meows him to create a series of
wonderful sones and encounters.
The play has had a very popular tun
throughout southwestern Ontario for the past
two years, often with repeat engagements,
and has had extended runs in Landon and
Grand Bend
