IN MEMORIAM 1 Friday, September 26 continuous EVERYONE WELCOME Pork producers receive .forms By September 13, 1986, the enrolment' forms for the Ontario Pork industry Improve ment Program were in the mail, People receiving these forms will have shipped pigs that qualified for a stabilization payment for Quarters 2 or 3 of 1985. If a producer feels he maybe left out under these criteria, forms are available through your county OMAF office. Those who have not received an enrolment form by October 1, 1986 should make sure they get their own form to avoid unnecessary delays. The procedure, once you have received your form, is to complete it and mail it to your county OMAF office where it willbe processed. You will then receive a supply of grant applications and production record summary sheets. The compulsory part of the program requires that you submit a summary of one quarter's production. Once this is completed and sent to your county OMAF office, it triggers eligibility for the other grant areas. The records required for this section are not difficult to keep and do not require any weighing of pigs or feed. OPIIP is retroactive to April 1, 1986 and records for Quarter 2 (April 1 to June 30, 1986) will be accepted. If you have any further questions, contact your county OMAF office and ask to speak to your Pork Advisor. (LI from 10 a.m. 13/4 miles east el Walton at the farm of en Con. 18 Grey Twp. Farmers greet pragrem warily Harry Pelissero, president of the Ontario Federation of Agriculture, gave the Canadian Rural Transition Program (Cirri') a mixed review. The creation of the CI1TP was ' announced by federal agriculture minister , John Wise. Mr. Pelissem noted a program that gives farmers leaving agriculture access to transi- tion services - long available to Canadians in other industries - is a positive step. In Met, ) Mr. Pelissero said, the need for transition assistance for farmers was highlighted in the Grey -Brute Pilot Project (1984-85) in which ea the OFA participated. The same pilot project recommended the creation of third - debt review boards which have recently legislated by islated the federal government. However, the OVA president stated, lud beeailse these two programs • rih'al tronsitier) )^ and debt review boards - have been ie. ann'ouneeddoes not mean the iner;ttot unten F.C.C. foreclosure actions should be lifted automatically. That could easily bog down the whole process,"'said Mr. Pelissero. The OFA chief said serious consideration'. should be given to how and when the moratorium would be lifted, recommending either a phase by phase approach, Or the announcement of a future - not an immediate ;effectivity ctivity date. 1- is- IICi ylip Market B The National Tripartite Hog Stabilization Committee has released the 1986 second- quarter figures confirming that no stabilise - ben payment has been triggered forhogssold in April, May and June. i ThenatiOpal average market prrce , $7232,, exceeded the support price, $67,96, mainly due to higher prides and low feed costs.
