MAIN STREET SEAFORTH 527-0980
BY JACK EISLER
(Acting P.R.O. )
On Saturday thirty-eight members and
their wives travelled to Parkwood Hospital in
London to visit the less fortunate veterans.
Going with them on a second bus were 32
members of the Harmony Kings, a singing
group from Seaforth and area. They treated
the shut-ins with some old favorites as well as
new songs. Special thanks goes out to these
gentlemen for giving of their time and talent
for such a worthwhile cause and to Henry
Ziler for arranging the trip.
Sunday past the Zone Cl Convention was
held at Clinton. Seaforth was present with its
colors, along with the following comrades:
President Jim Watson and wife Betty;
Comrades Cleave Coombs and wife Peggy,
Thelma Coombs, Everett Felker and George
Case. Many issues were discussed and these
will be presented at the general meeting
Thursday. Note the change in date for this
month.

LEGION
NEWS
Also on Sunday the Legion was represent-
ed by comrade Mel Melanson at Seaforth Day
at the Clinton Raceway. He along with Larry
Broome, placed a blanket donated by Branch
156 on a horse called Commerce Gold and
driven by Randy Henry. This was their only
pleasure because they did not do well in
picking any winners. Maybe they are better
at placing.
Again this year, as in the past, there is
going to be another Scotish Ceilidh. It will be
held September 20 starting at 9 D.M. Please
azavailabe SLIM le atu getthe Legioour n!ets bar, and from
committee members, Jack Eisler, John
Lansink, Ron Williamson,- Gary Osborne,
Geo. Case, Jack Muir and the only true
Scotchman piper Peter Malcolm. Don't miss
out on this annual event. Tickets are $6 each
and include lunch and dance. Book early.
On September 10, 1939, Canada declared
war. On September 15, 1916 the Battle of
Somme was fought and on Sept. 15, 1940 the
battle of Britain, the air battle, many
Canadian Air Force served in, it was to be one
of the early turning points of the war.
At the going down of the sun and in the
morning we will remember them.
