MICHAEL SCHOOL OPENS: The St. Michael Secondary School In Stratford officially was opened last Thursday morning as an opening liturgy was held which was officiated by Bishop John Sherlock of London. Above, school principal Dan Bishop introduces the'varlous dignitaries who were present. Mr. Bishop said there are 232 students in the school this year, .61 of those In Grade 9. The school has students from Grades 7 and 8 as well. Andy ere e are e 1 vee full-time secondary school teachers on staff. Cromarty church resumes services parents, Don and Marjorie Johns, Jean Johns has returned for her second year in the Fanshawe school of nursing, Woodstock campus. Andrew Laing and Helen Benninger, Toronto, visited last weekend with his parents, Bob and Ruth Laing and Tom. We are pleased to report that Gladys Allen is recuperating at her home following surgery in University Hospital, London. Among the new students on the Cromarty school bus this year are Kailey and Tara Dow who transferred from Listowel to Upper Thames Elementary School, and Tom and Kim Davis, who are now living in the corner house in the village. LAING 345-23.26 Cromarty Presbyterian Church resumed its regular services on Sunday at 11:30 with Sunday School from 10 - 11:15. Alice Gardiner is Sunday School Superintendent with Cathy Elliott as secretary -treasurer. Teachers this year are Isobel Elliott and Alice Gardiner for Kindergarten; Carol Ann Scott, Bev Templeman and Gretta Miller, Primary; Mary Elliott, Nancy Bertens and Ruth Laing for Primary -Junior; and,Eva Laing for Junior High. After spending the summer with her St. Columban Correspondent MRS. CECILIA RYAN 345.2028 Sixty-six students began another school year at St. Columban (up fiveJrpm.iast year). The staff remained the same with the exception of Joanne Melady, who is now full time at our school. St. Columban area children starting for the first time and attending kindergarten at St. Patrick's School, Dublin are Kyle Bennewies, Brian Eckert, Trisha Jansen, Jared Murray, Jeff Murray, ,Katie Murray, Sarah Noakes, and Jason Ryan. We welcome. Kelly Benne- wies to our school. She is in grade three. ST. MICHAEL'S SCHOOL The 1986 grade eight graduates from St. Columban school attending St. Michael's High School, Stratford are Martha Claessens, Sherri Maloney, Pam Nolan, Jim O'Reilly and Chris Vogels. St. Michael's school was officially opened on Thursday, September 4 by Bishop Sherlock of London. The celebration of Holy Mass was held in the school gym and was attended by the surrounding area priests, teachers, staff, students, parents and the trustees of the Huron -Perth Separate School Board. POST SECONDARY STUDENTS Young people continuing their education at university and college from Sl. Columban area are: Michelle Barry and Anne Marie Maloney at Stratford Campus of Conestoga College; Marg Nolan at Fanshawe College, London; Anne Ryan at University of Water- loo; Mark Ryan at University of Western Ontario, London and Wayne Ryan at Wilfred Laurier University, Waterloo. PEOPLE Visiting with Jim and Janneke Murray and family last week was the latter's aunt Dieuw de Boer of Enkhuizen, Holland. Don and Florence Brady of London visited on the weekend with Tom and Eileen Sloan and family. The Nolan,reunion was held at Conestoga Lake on •Sunday at Pat and W ilf Hartleib's cottage. Attending from this area were Jim and Janneke Murray and girls, Anne Nolan, Clinton, Louis Nolan and Joe and Helen Nolan. Delaine Cronin of Dublin, Wayne and Malita Cronin of Egmondville, Laura Ward of Kitchener, Frank Cronin, Frank Nolan, Clarence; Cecilia and Mark Ryan and Debbie Core were guests on Sunday of Gerry and Karen Ryan and family on the occasion of Amanda's third birthday.
