Joan Bruxer honored at bridal shower

Joan Bruxer, daughter of Frank and
Maureen Bruxer of Dublin, was honored at a
miscellaneous bridal shower last week in the
St. Columban Church hall.
Friends, relatives and neighbors attended
the shower given by the Murray and Bruxer
families.
A few names were played after which an
address was read by Lori Bruxer and Joan
was presented with many useful gifts for her
new home.
Joan thanked everyone for the gifts after
which the ladies enjoyed lunch.
Joan will become the bride of Mark Murray
on Saturday, July 26.
PEOPLE
Mr. and Mrs, John Deloyer, recent
newlyweds, of Fort McMurray, Alberta
visited with Mr. and Mrs. Vincent Murray
recently.
Locals fare
Several people from the St. Columban and
Dublin area attended the 35th wedding
anniversary reception for Leo and Kay Ryan
at the Alpine Club, Kitchener on Friday
evening. An anniversary mass was said at 7
p.m. at the Aloysius Church, Kitchener.
Steve and Anne Murray, Craig, Dean and
M istie visited with Bill and Sheila Butters last
Thursday and spent Friday at Boblo Island.
John and Helen Warren, Chris, Michael,
Justin and Shane left on Sunday to return to
their home in St. Walburg, Saskatchewan
after spending the past three weeks visiting
with their relatives.
Laura and Shannon Ward of Kitchener
spent a few days this week with Clarence and
Cecilia Ryan.
Congratulations to Brendon Llan and Julie
Ciccarelli who were united in marriage on
Saturday, July 12 at St. Anne's Church in
Ancaster. Brendon Lane is the son of Jack
and Mary Catherine lane of St. Columban.
CML '86, an annual music competition,
was held at Bingeman Park recently with
students of Paul Stevenson, Clinton, and
other local teachers participating. Through
their many hours of extra practice over the
past few months: the students did very well
and managed to bring home some major
awards such as the Adjudicator's Award
which is given to the student with the highest
mark in each otaas. Jennifer Cook of Exeter
received one of 20 scholarships given to
students who show a great potential and
talent in music. Other results were as follows:

Fanshawe College Nursing Division,
Woodstock Campus held their Graduation
and Pinning ceremony on Saturday at the
Presbyterian Church in Woodstock. Carolyn
O'Reilly was one of 36 graduation students.
Attending were her parents Margaret and
Jack O'Reilly and all the O'Reilly family. A
banquet and dance followed in the Oxford
Auditorium.

Stratford outing on agenda

An outing to Stratford was the agenda for
the summer meeting of the Hibbert United
Church Women. Members met at a restaur-
ant for lunch, then lateradjourned to the park
for an afternoon of fellowship listening to
some recordings by local people. A short
business meeting was chaired by Mrs. Elmer
Dow.
Mrs. Philip iiern and Mrs. Bev Parsons,
Exeter visited Wednesday afternoon with
Mrs. Lloyd Miller.
Mr. and Mrs. Bob Norris, Jill and Robert,
Orpha Norris. Mr. and Mrs. Mike Parsons
and Cassandra, were guests of Mr. and Mrs.
Jim Skinner on Sunday, celebrating Kristin
