Under most circumstances, volunteers may be described as those individuals who donate their time, knowledge, and abilities without expectation of salary orother financial consideration, Existing amongeach segment of society, volunteers represent all walks of life. They may be: parents, program participants, educators, hobby enthusiasts, former recrea- tors, retired persons, activity .specialists, college or university students, professionals from every field, etc. Almost every person residing in a community possesses skills, knowledge and interests which can be a benefit to the leisure service program. There is no limitation as to the source of volunteer personnel nor the types and backgrounds of individuals who can make positive contribu- tions to the program.
