The 16 graduates of Grade 8 at Hensall
Public School were treated to a dinner by the
United Church Women last Tuesday evening.
The grads and their families were served a
roast beef dinner after which the awards were
presented.
Congratulations to the top girl Sheila
Dougall and top boy Bevan Moir. These
academic awards were presented by the
Kinettes. Tammy Theil was best all around
student and the other awards were: Leigh
Rose, Social Science, Joelle Beaver - science;
Bevan Moir - French, Sheila Dougall -
English, John Bell - math, Tracy Campbell -
music and Michelle Northcott - citizenship.
Best wishes to the entire class as they enter
high school in September.
REC PROGRAM
The playground recreation program is
ready to get off the ground next week,
Anyone still wishing to register children 5-12
may do so by visiting the village office. Two
leaders and four volunteer helpers have been
chosen and they have a 'busy six weeks
planned. Swimming lessons are also avail-
able.

will enter the wide world of Kindergarten
next year. Mrs, Liz, Janis Bisback, Nancy Lee
and Joan Corbett put on a humorous skit
about Summer Safety which was enjoyed by
the audience.
A lunch of finger foods was served by the
moms and Nancy Lee decorated the cake.
STORYBOOK GARDENS
Students and parents from Hensall Nur-
sery school travelled on June 19 to London's
Storybook Gardens for a wet but enjoyable
outing. The group picnicked under cover and
toured the park prior to their return bus trip.
The showers did nothing to dampen the
enthusiasm of the pre-schoolers but the
moms were slightly bedraggled.
LUNCH TREAT
Volunteer Parents were treated to a lunch
last Monday at Hensall Public School. The
staff prepared a meal and each volunteer was
presented with a thank you card by a
representative from the lass in which they
assisted.

held in which intramural awards for excel-
lence in grade subjects were given out.

Jim Dickins was back aboard his Honda on
June 29 at his home track of Hully Gully. It
was a perfect day and the track was in top
shape.

was leading for half the race. When another
rider fell. After some confusion the race was

candidate for the Christian ministry Rev. Dr.
Alex Filshie came back to his home church of
Hensel) United to speak to the congregation.
r Dr. Filshie became a candidate for the

'' Hensel! Continuation School in 1936. Since
that time 13r. Filshie has served the church,
I his country and' is now retired in the town of
Sebringbille. As well as studying in Canada
he took further studies in Carnbrii'dge
University in FSigland. He received his
Doctorate but is more proud of having
received the M.B.E.

Fallowing the service a fellowship hour was
held in the Fellowship Hall with Barbara
Gackstetter as hostess. Minnie Noakes
brought in a school picture at the time that
Dr. Filshie was a boy in Hensall.
The congregation were reminded of the
Vacation Church School beginning Monday,
.Tune 30 and an invitation was emended to the
congregation to attend the Open House and
Closing Program of Vacation School on
Friday at 10 a.m.
The flowers at the front of the church were
Pile call before July 11 so that meal arrangements can be made.
