Forty-two years ago, on June 6, the allies
mounted the greatest invasion force in
history to free Western Europe. The force
was made up of Navy, Army and Airforce, all
of whom played a vital roll. Canadian, British
and American made up the large part of this
invasion force. After four years of discourag-
ing setbacks this was to be the turning point
of the war. Many lives were lost and
hardships suffered, so we should always
remember that the freedom that we enjoy
today is due to many brave men and women
who put their lives on the line with
determination and resolve to finish the Nazi
tyranny. So on the 6th of June or on "D" day
as it is known, let us all be thankful for those
men and women who made the supreme
sacrifice and let us make sure that it was not
all in vain. (Submitted by John D. Baker)
The branch was saddened this week by the
passing of one of our W ,W . 1 veterans,
Secord McBrien, who served in Siberia
during World War 1. Our thoughts go out to
his wife and family.
Many of our members are heading west
this week to attend the Dominion Convention
which is held in Edmonton this year. Those

couple of weeks. On May 23 we went to
Exeter branch to install their officers and on
May 30 we went to Clinton and installed their
officers. Both branches were excellent hosts
and we thank them for the good time we had.
