Thank yous were read from a member and the Callander Nursing Home for entertaining at the April birthday party. The District Annual is in Ethel May 13 and delegates are Mrs. Jim Hart, Mrs. John Vanass and Mrs. Clare Veitch. An invitation was received to the Majestic W,I, meeting May 14. The committee forulywaand are Mrs. rank Workman, Vanass ar Mrs. Hart. A donation of $50 was agreed on to the Grey Central's project of planting trees. Convenors Mrs. Bert van Donkersgoed and Mrs. Workman took over the meeting. Two readings were given by the convenors and then slides of "W ild Flowers of Ontario" were shown. A plant auction was held with Mrs. van Donkersgoed acting as auctioneer. Lunch was provided by Mrs. Jack Conley and Mrs. Gordon Engel. PEOPLE Mr. and Mrs. Archie Crawford, Shelburn, visited Mr, and Mrs. Don Cotton. Mr. and Mrs. Fled Shireman, Plattsville, were supper guests with Mr. and Mrs. Wilfred Strickler on Tuesday. A car load of W.M.S. members attended the meeting of a W .M . S. group in the Atwood Presbyterian Church on Wednesday, Jack Conley underwent major surgery in University Hospital, London Thursday and is reported as doing well. He is wished a speedy recovery. BETTYMcCALL 887-6677 Laurie Erb, co-ordinator of Palliative Care with Seaforth Hospital was guest speaker at the general meeting of the United Church W omen at Duff's United Church, Wednesday evening. She was introduced by Maxine Marks, com'enor of Church in Society and thanked by Viola Kirkby. This was a joint meeting with both units, and there was a good attendance. Marie Coutts of Walton 1 was in charge of devotions. Marie McGavin was pianist. Marjorie Humphries read the scripture followed by Mrs. McGavin reading "Parable of the good Samaritan." Gloria Wilbee contributed musical numbers with her guitar. Judy Imnnuich led in prayer. Offering was received and dedicated. The hymn "0 Master let me walk with Thee" dosed this part of the meeting. Marion Godkin, U.C.W. President, chair- ed the business and was assisted by Marilyn McDonald. She read the minutes and correspondence. Mrs. Godkin read a poem. Announcements for coming events were given out, an invitation was read from Winthrop United Church to attend their meeting June 4 at'fj p.m. That being the regular U.C. W . meeting it was decided not to change as a special speaker has been invited. 11 was lett anyone that wished could still go to Winthrop. Leona McDonald gave the treasurer's report. At present it will be hard ice cream (take out) at the front of the Gamble store on Main Street. "Bubble Gum" is the special ice-cream of the week.
