Local Lagoon distributes
7,000 tulips in town
BY GORDON SCO'iT, PRO
Last September the Legion distributed
some 7,000 tulips around the town and local
countryside; By the middle of this week, all
these tulips should be in full bloom reminding
all of the Legion's Diamond Jubilee anniver-
sary this year, 60 years of service to the
eonumunities and the veterans of two great
wars,
This week also marks the cessation of
hostilities in Holland when the Dutch people
became a free nation again. They still do
remember the sacrifices of the Canadian
troops and of their own people as was evident
at the 40th anniversary celebration last year.
There are only a few tickets .left for the
Diamond Jubilee Ball at the time of writing,
for Friday night. Anyone wishing tickets
please phone 527-1787. Tickets will not be
available at the door. Please write your name
on the back of your ticket as there will be a
draw for two diamond jubilee coins valued at
25 dollars each during the evening.
There will be an executive meeting
Thursday evening at 8 p.m. and the regular

his new executive as of the first of June,
The Branch was saddened to learn of the
passing of another of the FSrst War veterans
Friday. Comrade James Racho was a member
for many years and had been a resident of
Huronview for the last few• years. To his.
family we offer sympathy in their loss of a
father. A Legion memorial service was held
on Sunday evening.
They grow old not as we that are left grow
old. Age shall not weary them nor the years
condemn. At the going down of the sun and in
the morning we will remember them.
