,The Walton Women's Institute held their
final euchre till fall on April 29 in their hall. It
was a dessert euchre..
There were 13 tables of euchre inplay.
Brenda
Prizes were given to the high lady,
Perrie; second high - Mary Robertson; low -
Viola Adams; high man - Alberta Stevens;
second high - Ted Mills; low - Helen
Williamson. Lucky tickets - Ida Evans;
Harvey Craig, John Simpson, Margery Rock,
Helen Sotheran and Viola Kirkby.
The committee in charge were Maxine
Marks; Mary Humphries; Elva Bolger; Betty
McCall and Helen Craig.
The Institute has planned to serve a noon
luncheon today and again May 21 at the. hall.
CHURCH NEWS
Annie Reid and Ruth Thamer were at the
door greeting worshippers to the morning
service at Duff's United Church, Walton,
Sunday.
Wednesday evening is the joint United
Church Women meeting with the Church in
Society committee in charge. Laurie Erb,
palliative care co-ordinator with the Seaforth
Community Hospital will be the guest
speaker. Everyone is welcome.

Bert Henderson and brother, Ron, Lenore
and her husband Jake of Edmonton visited
last week with Emerson and Phyllis Mitchell.
A week ago they all visited Marie Douglas,
Luella

from 9 a.m. - 1 p:m.
Several ladies from this area including
Mary Humphries, Maxine Marks, dig
Bolger, Gloria Love, Helen Williamson, Pearl
McCallum and Karen Hoegy boarded the bus
from Goderich in Seaforth last Monday
morning. They stopped at Furniture Factory
and Tootsie shoes before reaching the
Swains Nursery where they had lunch. They
then travelled to Hollandia cookies for an
hour of shopping prior to supper at the Knotty
Pine Inn, London, Everyone reported a very,
good trip and a worthwhile day.

Mitchell mailbox on the ninth line of Morris.
Congratulations to Doug and Janet on the •
arrival of a new baby girl, Amanda Marie in
Listowel Hospital, Monday,' April 28.
The Thamer families met in Kitchener on
Sunday at John Thamer's home to celebrate
Kiln's birthday, also Darlene Gulutzen.
The little village came alive last Monday
afternoon when over 18, C.P.R. cars came in
and were put off at the siding in Walton. Over
50 men are working on the tracks out both
ways. They have 2 cooks with them and live.

cars so were home for the weekend.
Officers were elected at the first meeting of
the W alton II4-H club: It was held April 28 at
the home of Bonnie Glanville.
Mary Hunt was elected president, Connie
McClure, vice-president, Nancy Godkin;
secretary and Tracy Bosman, press reporter.
Also at the meeting the basics in gardening
and how to set up your garden were
discussed. The home activity is to design a
garden on paper and mount it -in the books.
Hartmans visit in Bayfield

Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Hartman of Bayfield
visited on Sunday with the latter's parents
Mr. and Mrs. Harold McCallum.

Seaforth, George Thornton of Brussels and
Freida Mogk of Mitchell, Mrs. Paul McCal-
lum and Kenny of RR 1, Walton were all
recent visitors at the Hubley-Regele home in
Seaforth.
Idella Regele and Norman Hubley of
Seaforth visited Thursday evening at the
home. of Mr. and Mrs. Harold McCallum at
RR 1, Walton.
Gordon Byers of Mitchell visited on
Saturday with his mother Helen Byers of
Seaforth.

opening day is
action -pecked
The 1986 Motocross season opener at Hully
Gully saw an action packed afternoon of
racing by riders from across Ontario and
Quebec. Early morning qualifiers saw riders
battle tacky conditions setting a fast course of
burms and drying the track for some
exceptional riding in the afternoon.
Local riders, Jim Dickins of Hensall
finished third overall in the 80A class and
Randy Marriage of Clinton finished second
overall in the Open Jr. class.
Motocross action returns to Hully Gully
Sunday, Mali 25.
Sppecial sections are being added to the
Hilly Gully track to make it more similar to a
European style motocross track with more
grassy terr
Some local ain. riders will he out on the track
donning their best, such as Brian Blackburn
of Exeter who will be riding in the Senior 250
dass. John Kochan of Hensall will be riding
in the Junior 125B class, along with fellow
Hensall racer Jim Dickins who will be riding
in the BOA class. Dave Andrews of Clinton
will be out as well as Chuck Collins of Varna.
Practice gets underway at 9:30 with the
races themselves starting at noon. All
spectators are welcome to come out and enjoy
a full day of motocross action.
Minor Baseball season soon to start
SEAFORTH AND DISTRICT MINOR BASE-
BALL is askingoasall interested ans to RECREATION PREVIEW
register as soon as possible. The season will
be starting very shortly. There is still is
shortage of Bantam, Midget and house -
league boys. If anyone is interested in
coaching or helping to coach a team please
call 527-0882, if more players and coaches
cannot be found these' teams may not play
this year.
The MENS BALL HOCKEY LEAGUE
starts tomorrow night at the Arena. Come out
and cheer on your favorite team.
The SEAFORTH AND DISTRICT MINOR
SOCCER ASSOCIATION will be having their
first practices tonight. Squirts will be at the
Optimist Park at 5:30 p.m. and Atoms and
Mosquitos will be at the High School also at
5:30 p,m. Everyone who registered should
attend practice.
SUMMER RECREATION PROGRAMS

will start July 7 this year. Come in to the
Recreation Office today and register. Please
make a special effort to register early.
SEAFORTH SENIOR GAMES have been
very successful so far. All games have had
excellent attendance and let's keep it up. Last
Wednesday Contract Bridge was held at the
Legion with four tables and two people extra.
The night was a lot of fun. When it was over
Lesterand Betty Leonhardt were the winners
with 5,730 points in eight games. Next games
will be Shuffleboard at Arena, Wednesday,
May 7 at 1:30 p.m.; Walking starting at
Victoria Park Monday, may 12 at 10:30 a.m.
Cribbage at Arena Monday, May 12 at 7:30
p.m. and Crokinole at Arena on Wednesday,
May 14 at 7:30 p.m.
ANYONE wishing to use the lions or
Optimist ball diamonds must book them at
the Recreation Office, 527-0882.
SHUFFLEBOARD continues at the Arena
every Wednesday afternoon from 1:30 to 4
p.m. Last week's winners were: ladies: Ina
Scoins 202, Mary McMillan, 194, Jean Keys,
150. Men: Stanley Hillen 324, Jim Keys 247
and Lloyd Pipe 236.
