The Huron -Perth Roman Catholic Separate
School Board has announced staff changes in t
its schools for the fall.
Jeannette Eybergen has been hired as
classroom teacher at Immaculate Conception
School in Stratford and the following teachers
have been transferred, Joanne Melady from
itinerant French teacher at St. Patrick's
School in Dublin and St. Columban to
classroom teacher at St. Columban school.
Marybel Edye to be transferred from St.
Patrick's School, Dublin (70 per cent) and
Kitchener and research capabilities if it is
aken over by the university. Mr. Eckert said
he Ministry of Education feels there would
be a big savings which could help reduce the
deficit budget for the government. He said he
felt the institute has been good.
The Board approved the elementary school
year calendar for 1986-1987 for nine profes-
sional activity days and 186 instructional days

Mr. Eckert announced the board would
start Education Week on April 27 with a
special opening to be held in Exeter.
Church celebrates 75th
The present church was consecrated on
May 25, 1911.

Patrick's School, Dublin, (50 per cent) to St.
Mary's School, Goderich (60 percent) Special
Education; Larry Cook from St. Michael
School, Stratford, principal, to St. Patrick's
School, Dublin (50 per cent) and he will be the
coordinator of computer instruction which is a
system -wide responsibility.
Mary Smith from St. James School,
Seaforth and St. Columban School (30 per
cent Special Education).
Terry Craig from St. Patrick's School,
Dublin (100 per cent) to St. James School,
Seaforth (50 per cent) Special Education and
St. Patrick's School, Dublin (50 per cent)
classroom.
All hirings or transfers are effective
September 1, 1986.
The board expressed opposition to the
proposed transfer of the Ontario Institute for
Studies in Education (O.I.S.E.) to the
University of Toronto, although most trustees
reported they did not understand what the
merger would mean. W illiam Eckert, Direct-
or of Education, said the Institute would be
less than it is now if the transfer takes place.
He said he fears the school boards would lose
O.I.S.E.'s field centres in London and in
McLaughlin

St. Columban Catholic Church will cele-
brate its 75th anniversary of the present
church on Sunday, May 11, 1986.
Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. followed
by refreshments and a social get together in
the church basement.
All parishioners and former parishioners
from St. Columban are welcome to attend the
celebration.
PEOPLE
Peter and Mary Jo Van Drunen and
children of Stratford visited on the weekend
with Peter and Jean Van Drunen and Ray and
Eleanor Maloney.
Clarence, Cecilia and Mark Ryan visited on
Sunday with Don and Brenda Ryan and boys
of Melbourne. J.D. and Marg MacRae, Jenny
and Ism of London also visited with the Ryans.
Meeting has Easter theme

The Marian Ritchie Evening Auxiliary
used the events following Easter Sunday as
the theme for their April meeting. Ruth
Laing, presiding, opened the meeting by
reading the post -Easter appearances of Jesus
as told in Luke 24.
Betty Lou Norris was at the piano and a
medley of Easter hymns was played on the
organ keyboard by Ruth Laing.

The topic, Easter Today and Every Day,
was given by Mrs. Norris. She also presided
over the business when invitations were
received from Caven P. C. W P.C.W. for May 12, and
Seaforth Women's Missionary Society for
April 24. The 1986 allocation of $1,000 was
accepted.
Joy Scott read the scripture related to the
study book from Leviticus. Mary Elliott then
presented a study on Indian lands and related
treaties, and read an article from the London
Free Press on The FSrst Canadians. She was
assisted by Jean Carey, Helen Parsons and
Roberta Templeman. Mrs. Laing played
Edelweiss on the organ.
PEOPLE
Congratulations to Mrs. Stanley (Annie)
Dow who celebrated her ninetieth birthday
recently.
Congratulations to Mr. and Mrs. Eldon
Allen on the birth of a new grandson, Jordan
Francis Allen, of Crystal Lake.
The sympathy of the community is
extended to Dorothy and Harvey Dow and
their family following the death of Dorothy's
mother, Mrs. Clifford Dow, Mitchell.
