HomeMy WebLinkAboutThe Huron Expositor, 1986-04-09, Page 11FAMILY Arc workers join residents at bowling Workers at Arc Industries took advantage of a recent holiday to go bowling with residents of the Seaforth Health Care Facility Monday. On Tuesday public school pupils helped residents with wheelchair bowling and on Wednesday residents went to the Queen's Hotel'for dinner. Since it was such a beautiful day the wheelchair people were able to go as well. They were accompanied by Mary Finlayson and Jackie Racho. In the afternoon Rev. Gordon Simmons held a communion and worship service at the facility. Eva Lambert is back in our midst after her stay in hospital with a fractured hip. On Thursday morning residents enjoyed a visual tour to Africa when Rev. Cheryl -Ann Stadelbauer-Sampa showed slides and also BIRTHS KERSLAKE: We would like to announce the safe arrival of William "ian" on Sunday, March 30 at South Huron Hospital, Exeter weighing 6 lbs. 6 oz. A grandson for Carter and Grace Kerslake off Mitchell and Tom and Margaret Young of Dungannon. Craig and Peggy Kerslake McCALIL: Ross and Fran are happy to announce the birth of their daughter, Lacey Ellen, on March 24, 1986 at listowel Memorial Hospital, weighing 7 lbs, 15'72 oz. A little sister for Leisa and Matthew. Proud grandparents are John and Irene Blake of Brussels and Bruce and Doris McCall of Brussels. WHYTE: Bill and Regi are pleased to announce the birth of their son Kevin W illiam born April 2. A brother for Maria. Proud grandparents are Margaret Whyte and Theo and Hendrika Van Bakel, all of Seaforth. PEOPLE gave a commentary on that country. A question period followed... The ladies indoor gardening club met in the afternoon with post flowering care given to the amaryllis bulbs that, had been their project, Lucy Bezzo's bulb outdid all the others. It had twelve beautiful blooms on it and measured eight inches across. Ila Gardner kept record of each bulb's progress as it grew. Ed Dunn and Elmer Bakscy were euchre winners Thursday, outscoring Alfie Sykes and Irene Omand. Happy Birthday to Joseph Downey was sung at dinner time. A gift was presented to him by Patrick Ryan on behalf of the residents. On Friday bingo was played. Edith Salo, Lucy Bezzo, Dorothy Carter, Alvin McNain and Margurite Shill were winners. The remainder of the afternoon Gladys Van Egmond played the piano and residents sang some good old songs. PERSONALS Beatrice Kempson visited daughter Doris Smith. Also her sister Betty Gray and friend played the piano. John Brown, of Walton visited his father Harvey Brown. Corporal Gerald Cook and friend from Moose Jaw Saskatchewan visited grand- mother Lucy Bezzo, Margaret and Sherry Bezzo of Clinton, also visited. Marjorie Maloney visited husband Harold Maloney. Pat and Rose Altman visited her parents Dave and Eva Netzke. Mary Kennedy and , Joan Eaton visited Dorothy Carter. Evelyn Cook and husband Bob of St. Thomas visited her mother Lucy Bezzo. Contest solicits posters, poems Primary school children across Ontario are being encouraged to participate in aoster and poem contest dealing with the subject of forest fire prevention. Forest Fire Prevention is You is the theme of the contest, which is being promoted through schools and boards of education. Children are being asked to design a poster and write a short accompanying poem. The posters .are expected to deal primarily with the careless use of fire. Mr. and Mrs. Howard Maloney, Barrie' Mr. and Mrs. George McDonell, Brian and Christie Ziegler of Garden City, Michigan visited with Mr. and Mts. Wilbert Maloney during the week.
