Meetings planned
dh angling licences
The introduction of a resident angling
licence could provide between $8 million and
$12 million annually in additional funds for
fisheries management in Ontario. This

licencing proposal of the ministry is imple-
mented,
. The proposal tentatively suggests an
angling licence fee of $10 for Ontario
residents between 18 and 64 years of age and
a $5 fee for residents 65 years of age or over.
A series of public meetings have been
scheduled throughout the province to hear
what Ontario's residents have to say.
Meetings in southwestern Ontario include:
April 7, Holiday inn, 480 Riverside Drive
W est in Windsor; April 9 and 10, Ramada
Inn, 817 Exeter Road, London; April 15,
Owen Sound Public Library, 824 First Avenue
West, Owen Sou. -:(1, All meetings are from 7
to 9:30 p.m.

naires and further information are available

Centenaires trail in playoff series
The current second -round Junior D playoff
series between the Seaforth Centenaires and
the Grand Valley Harvesters has been
anything but predictable. After the first -three
games in the best -of -seven series, two
cliffhanger wins for Grand Valley and one
blowout score in the Centenaires' favor,
Seaforth trails the series two games to one.
GRAND VALLEY 6, SEAFORTH 4
Seaforth scored the first goal of the series,
during the opening game, played in Seaforth
on March 19, when Dave Murray netted a
power -play marker, assisted by Jerry W right
and Rob Core. Grand Valley came back
quicldy with two goals of their own and the
entenaires needed Jim Campbell's goal
with 3 :47 left, to escape the first period with a
2-2 draw. Murray and Wright assisted on
Campbell's goal.
The Harvesters drew ahead in the second
frame, as they scored twice in the period.
Dave Akey's power -play goal at the 8:10 mark
was the only Seaforth tally iii the period.
Campbell and Wright drew assists.
Grand Valley scored less than a minute into
the third period, but a short-handed goal by
Murray, assisted by Andy Russell, and Akey,
narrowed the margin back down to one goal
Goaltending took over from there, as
neither team was able to dent the twine again
until Grand Valley fired the clincher into an
empty net with eight seconds to go, ,
Seaforth fired nearly 60 shots at Colin
Black in the Grand Valley net, while Keith
McClure and Derek Cooper, who split the
puckstopping duties for Seaforth, faced 37
shots between them.
SEAFORTH 7, GRAND VALLEYO
Seaforth came right back with a win on the
road the next night, blanking the Harvesters
7-0.
Dave Murray scored twice for Seafgrth and
picked up an assist. Jerry Wright, Dan
W esenberg, Bill Dale, Andy Russell and
Dave Akey were the other marksmen for
Seaforth with one goal each.
Dave Akey and Rob Core had two .assists
each, as did Jim Campbell and Russell. Kevin
Melady and Mike Betties each assisted on
one goal.

PLAYERS SUSPENDED
A post -game scuffle resulted in one or
two -game suspensions being handed to three
Seaforth players and one from Grand Valley
at the March 23 contest, in Seaforth.
p Milverton 2-1
Announcement
The incident began as the iewus were
leaving the ice at the conclusion of the game,
a 7-5 win for Grand Valley, when some
Seaforth players' reacted to taunt from the
victors,
It was probably the result of a bit of
frustration on the part of our players. W e just
seemed to be a step behind them all night,"
said Centenaire manager Glen McClure.
Because the suspensions to Gerard Ryan,
Kevin W illiareson and Tom Turner, of
Seaforth and Rob Stinson, of Grand Valley,
were for minor offences, Mr. McClure said
the teams will likely be able to buy back the
suspensions by paying a $25 penalty for each
one.
During the game, Grand Valley grabbed a
lead early in the first period, and never let the
Centenaires get caught up, leading 2-1 after
the first frame and 5-3 after the second.
Dave Murray scored twice and assisted on
a third goal in the game, while Jerry Wright,
Pete Bennett and Andy Russell scored
singles. '
The next game is scheduled for tonight, in
Grand Valley, with a fifth game set for Friday
night, in Seaforth. if necessary the sixth
game will go Sunday, in Grand Valley and the
seventh next Tuesday in Seaforth. '
