Today through Saturday the intermediate men's team of Neil Dolmage, John Patterson Jr., Bill Campbell and Larry Hudson, are competing in the provincial competition being held at the Sarnia Golf and Country Club. Just recently the boys rink of Steve Dolmage, Peter Ste. Marie, Ron Pryce, Dave Campbell and Brian Beattie returned bronze winners from their provincial competition. "It's quite an accomplishment for a club this size to send two teams to the provincials In the same year. It's kind of rare since only eight teams of approximately 16 districts are represented in the provincials," said Mr. Patterson. This is the first year the intermediate team has played together, although Bill Campbell and John Patterson, were teammates on a mixed team that went to the provincial level of competition some years ago. All the team m embers are over 40 years of age, and curl in the Open Mens competition in Seaforth. They curl approximately three times a week and compete in bonspiels on most weekends. "And that's only about half of what we used to curl," said Mr. Patterson. "I guess you could say we were real curling junkies." The intermediates, who advanced to the provincial competition by finishing with a six w,irt, one loss record at the district level, then emerged undefeated in and took the A side of a double knockout tournament at the inter -district level, are optimistic about their chances in the provincial competition. "We're curling pretty good right now, so I think we have a helluva good shot at winning it," said Mr. Patterson. "We started out a little bit slow, but gradually we've put together a team." The boys' team advanced to the provindal round of their competition after winning the first round of competition earlier this season in Kincardine. It then finished the A side winner in the second round held in Hanover. It finished the provincial competition with three losses, one to a Toronto rink, one to a Trenton rink, and one to a Mississauga rink. The Toronto rink eventually won the right to represent Ontario in the Canadian final held in Red Deer, Alberta.
