SCOUT discusses
promotion ideas
S.C.O.U.T., Seaforth and Community
Organizations United Together. Represent-
atives of area clubs and organizations met
last week to discuss ways to combine their
efforts to raise funds and, at the same time
work together to promote Seaforth as a
community. As some of you m ay recall this
project started last year in January, and they
came up with some good ideas to meet their
objectives.
These ideas were: to have all groups put all
special events on a calendar and distribute
through the post office, place mats for town
and area restaurants and full page advertise-
ments in The Expositor.
At our meeting last Wednesday night, we
discussed the fact we have already received a
grant for$2,000, and the total project will cost
approximately $4,000. Therefore we must
come up with the other $2,000 in order to
' make this project successful. It was discussed
that we could charge each group $10.00 per
event to put into the calendar, but that would
defeat the purpose, because not all groups
would be able to afford it. It was agreed upon
that we must come up with a fundraiser that
all groups could participate in. That fund-
raiser will be a Stanley Cup final series draw.
Arrangements are being made today and we
will be getting the tickets out as soon as
possible. Each group will be given a number
of tickets and will be responsibile to sell
them. As a result, each group will be {Able to
put in as many special events as possible and
we will have a much healthier calendar.
It will be up to the groups now to write in all
planned events and send it to me, as soon as
possible.
