B championship of the Seaforth Broomball tournament on the weekend. The Farmerettes led
the game until the late minutes when ,Parrline tied things up, forced an overtime and
eventually won 2-1. Mcllwraith photo

coveted 'A'
In some respects local teams. fared better
than last year, ane to some respects worse, as
the Seaforth Broomball League hosted its
annual tournament at the Community Cen-
tres over the weekend.
Twenty -lour mens and 12 ladies teams
participated in the tournament which got
underway Friday night, and continued until
late Sunday.
(' 11 Express boosted their tournament
win record to four, by capturing the coveted
A" title. Sunday afternoon, Goals by Marc
liobmet and Dale Kennedy fostered the
teams 20 win over Bedard's Energy Con. of
Cornwall Mike Flanagan was named the
game's Most Valuable Player and "Express–
er Bob MacKenzie was named Most Valuable
Player of the tournament
Last year's B champions in the same
tournament, the C.H. Express advanced to
the A final by first defeating the Teviotdale
Raiders 1-0 on Friday, the Elora Farmers 3-0
on Saturday, and finally by turning the tables
on their league rivals, the Easy Riders, with a
2-1 defeat early Sunday morning.
For the Easy Riders Sunday's loss to the
C.H. Express was a disappointment as it
eliminated them from further play and the
chance to improve on last year's finish of,
runner-up on the B side. This year the Easy
Riders advanced to the second round of the A
side of the tournament after an initial 3-0 win
over the Grads.
The men's B title went to the Teviotdale
Raiders who wound up with a final 5-3 win
over the Iambton Outlaws. Their other wins
of the tournament included a 2-1 victory over
the Blyth 8th Liners, a 2-1 win over the
Mitchell Mustangs, and a 2-1 win over
W inthrop.
In ladies play the A title was recaptured
this year by the Green Machine. They
recorded a 6-1 win over the Seaforth Queens,
a 2-0 win over Chiselhurst and a 1-0 win over
Sebastinas Pizza before downing the Corn-
wall Roof Truss'ers 2-1 in the final.
On the B side Parrline squeaked by with a
2-1 overtime win against the Farmerettes.
Barb Pepper scored for Parrline late in the
game to force the overtime. Marilyn McComb
scored the team's winning goal. The games
Most Valuable Player was Farmerette Carol
Bailey.
,4 TRICKY SHOT, is definitely what this one appears to be for one Easy Rider player. Tills
player didn't score on this play, but his teem did win 1-0 against Chiselhurst.

PLAY BALL is probably the furthest thought from this Farmerette overtime victory over the Farmerettes 10 capture the Ladies
goalies mind as she grabs the ball from the clutches of two Parrline championship In the Seaforth tournament. The Farmerette goalie,
adversaries ahout to converge on her. Parrline squeezed out a 2-1 Carol Bailey, was voted Most Valuable Player. Mcllwraith photo

GET IT OUT OF HERE — There are plenty of members of the Queen's broombalt team
around. all with the same thoughts on their mind, to clear the ball out of their own end. In
this instance they did but were unable to do so on all occasions and finally succumbed to the
Farmerettes 1-0. Mcllwraith photo
