evening with Idella Regele and Norman
Hubley at Seaforth.
Cindy McCallum of RR 1. Walton is
holidaying at the home of Idella Regele and

Colleen McCallum of RR 1, Walton is
holidaying at the home of Mr. and Mrs.

The occasion was Cindy's third birthday.

Regele at Seaforth were Pearl and Harold
McCallum of RR 1, W alton. Charles Regele of
RR 1, Dublin and Carol Ann W illiamson of RR
1, Walton and Joy McCowan of RR4, Walton.
Mrs. Terry Ward of RR 1, Walton and
Annette W ard of RR 1, Bornholm spent
Monday in London to visit Mathew W and who
is a patient in St, Joseph's Hospital. He is
wished a speedy recovery,
Joy and Bob McCowan of RR 4, W alton ate
at Parkway Stables, Alma where Joy
McCowan's broodmare "In Lew of Cash'
had a chestnut filly foaled January 22 by
"Real McCoy" who is rated at number five in
the rating for producing' futurity foals. They
also visited with Pled and. Carol Reinders at
"little Country Stables" at Elora.

The Walton Annual Snowmobile Poker
Rally, sponsored by the Area Sports Club,
was held Sunday with 383 hands sold.
Attendance was down from last year due to
the weather of the past week and there
seemed to be many other activities of the
same nature on that day,
Cash prize winners for best poker hands
were Glen Van Wonderen, RR 1, Varna,
$15(k Shirley Coleman, RR 1, Seaforth, $75;
John Brecker, RR 4, Walton, Chris Ryan.
Brussels, $25.
There were many other door prizes drawn
for and the lunch booth was in good demand.
The Walton Area Sports Club drew the
names for the monthly draw. W inners were
Walton Intermediate Ball Team - $100 and
$'25 went to Gary Morrison. There will be a
sports club meeting on February 10,

The Annual Congregational Meeting of
Knox Presbyterian Church was held W ednes-
day. Thirty six sat down' to the potluck
supper.
Rev. Donald Mcinnis presided and opened
the meeting with a film "The Prodigal Son"
and a brief message and prayer, The minutes
of the last meeting were read by the secretary
Mrs, Stuart Stevenson.
The following were re-elected to the Board
of Managers: Jim Hart, Lloyd Smith and °
Stewart Steiss. Trustees are John A. Perrie
and Leslie Knight, organist Mrs. Stewart
Steiss and secretary -treasurer Mrs. Stuart
Stevenson. The manse conunittee is the
chairman of the board of managers, Jack
Knight. Mrs. Leslie Knight, and Mrs. Clare
Veitch.
Mrs. Larry Smith returned .home on
January 29 following surgery and a 10 -day -
stay in Victoria Hospital, London.
Mr. and Mrs. John Vanass and family
visited with friends in Wartburg on Sunday.
At the Foresters euchre on Friday there
were 17 tables with the following winners:

Council tolerates
encroachment
Mullett Township Council has granted a
tolerance of encroachment on Elizabeth
Street in Londesboro, for a building and
concrete pad on Lot 5, Plan 285. The building
is the property of Mitchell's Family Market.
Council. at theirJanuary 28 meeting, noted
this tolerance in no way grants any right or
title to the land encroached upon, but will
allow the portion of the building presently
encroaching on the street to remain where
located until suds time as it is removed or
demolished. The tolerance will then cease
and the full right, title and use will be vested
in the township.
Clerk Charles Lear was instructed to
inform the Huron Federation of Agriculture
the council will support the same 4-11
participation as last year.
Council accepted a petition of Ralph
Buffinga and Murray Adams for an extension
of the Farquhar Drain and appoint W .J.
Dietrich of W.E. Kelley and Associates as
E7igineer to bring in a report.
A tender from Jim Hayter Motors for the
delivery of a 1986 four-wheel-drive half -ton
truck, for 512,631, was accepted.
The road superintendent was authorized to
spend up to $500 on tools, new or used, to his
discretion.
The Berk was authorized to apply for
8275,000 in Ontario Neighbourhood bnprovE
merit Program funding.
The clerk's salary was set at 825,000 per
year, plus Oii1P.

Local reidents attended the first of three
dances to be held at the Brodhagen
Community Centre on Saturday night. The
"Wilbces" music was enjoyed by all and
lunch followed. The next dance is February
15 with the Blenders.
The church council of SL Peter's Lutheran
Church. Brodhagen, enjoyed a social evening
at the 'home of Darwin and Nancy Dietz last
Mondayevening. Hosts forthe occasion were
the outgoing council members including:
Iloyd and Velma Prueter, Don and Heather
Campbell and Darwin and Nancy Dietz.
Steffler's General Store has rnoved to their
new premises across the road from the
original store. They are offering the same
merchandise as before but in a smaller, newly
renovated location. Mark and Cheryl are
living in the aprtment above the store. Good
luck for future success in this new location.
PEOPLE
It was nice to see Pastor Horst in church on
Sunday morning after a few days stay in
Seaforth Hospital.
A number of "fishing enthusiasts" enjoy-
ed a few days ice -fishing at Lake Nipissing
this past week. The fish were not too plentiful
but a good time was had by all.
The Snow Fp day for the Sunday School
children of St. Peter's was re -scheduled and
was held on Sunday afternoon. Skating was
held in the diurch sheds and lunch was
served by the Sunday Schaal staff.
A good Crowd has been playing euchre on
Tuesday nights at the Community centre.
