Rev. Bonnie Lamble and her congre- gation of the Walton United Church conduct- ed the weekly worship service on Sunday. Olive Dunbar celebrated her 93rd 'birthday with her family being present. ' Card games were enjoyed on Monday afternoon as well as the visit from Doug and Evelyn Purdy of the Salvation Army in the evening, Tuesday was bingo day again. Audrey Seaton was transferred to W ingham Hospital. The Blyth Singers entertained and y visited with the residents on Wednesday. The Majestic W omen's Institute held the monthly birthday party on Thursday. Jack W arwick and Howard Smith provided good old time music. Margaret McBrien spent the afternoon with her daughter Joan Miller of Cranbrook. Anne Smith played hymns on the piano Friday morning and Jean Evans and Jeannette Boynton led the discussion group. Audrey Seaton has returned to the home from the hospital. Eva Stewart was transferred from Wingham Hospital to University Hospi- tal in London. Jack Hamilton is a patient in W ingham Hospital. The staff and residents are pleased to have Cecil Moore well and back on the job. REBEKAH LODGE The regular meeting of Morning Star Rebekah Lodge was held in the Lodge Hall. Due tp weather and illness a smaller than usual number were in attendance. The Noble UCW serves potluck The Belgrave United Church Women hosted a potluck supper. for members, families and friends ' from neighboring churches in Knox United School Room Thursday. President, Mrs. John Roberts welcomed everyone and Rev. John G. Roberts asked the blessing. Following supper, Mrs. Les Shaw led a • sing -song with Mrs. George Johnston at the piano. Mrs. William Coultes introduced guest speaker Dr. J. McKim of London. He originated a Medical Elective program which enables final year medical students to serve three months in Third World Countries. This program is funded in part by the U.C.W.s of tendon Conference. Dr. McKim introduced Joe Lee a medical student who has just returned from spending , three months in Kenya. Mr, tee told of his work, the culture, living conditions, the hospitals and medical problems in Kenya. Mrs. Harold Vincent thanked the speakers. Dorothy Logan opened the worship service with the call to worship. Mrs. Ross Anderson read scripture, Dorothy Logan read the meditation. Mrs. John Roberts conducted the busi- ness. it was decided to buy an Easter Illy for . the church and to hold an Easter Sunrise Service. Thank you notes for shut-in boxes were read. Mrs. Les Shaw presented the budget for 1986. • The next meeting will be held March 27. The program will be Mrs. William Coultes speaking On her trip to Mexico, worship by Mrs. Glenn Coultes and music by Mrs. Bob Gordon. Mrs. Roberts thanked those who contributed to the box for the Safe Homes. Rev. John Roberts conducted the installa- tion of officers for 1986 and Mrs. Roberts welcomed Mrs. Harold Vincent the new president for 1986. Rey. Roberts closed the meeting with the Benediction. ANNUAL MEETING Fifteen members of Calvin -Brick United Church gathered at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Donald Dow on Sunday, January 26 for their annual meeting. Rev. John G. Roberts was chairman and Ivan Dow was secretary. Mrs. Roy Dawson. treasurer, presented the financial reports which showed the general fund just meeting its obligation. Contributions to the Mission and Service Fund was up $650 over last year. A vote of thanks was extended to the members for their support locally and abroad. Elected to Session was Mrs. Bryan Coultes, David Beecroft, Board of Stewards - George Inglis, Roy Dawson, Trustee - Gordon McBurney, all fora three year term, retire in 1988. U. C. W . representative Mrs. Donald Dow, Sunday School Superintendent, Donald Dow, Ushers and Offering Stewards, Donald McBurney, JIM McGee. Wayne Lamb, Stephen Dow. Grady lamb. Darcy Lamb. Auditors: Mrs. George McGee and Mts. Donald Dow, Gordon McBurney stated that 39 families were receiving the United Church Observer. 11 was agreed to continue with the Every Family Plan. A vote of thanks was extended to Rev. and Mrs. John Roberts for theirleadeiship during the year. Rev. Roberts closed the meeting with prayer. A social half hour followed. A vote of thanks was extended to Gloria and Donald Dow. WEEK LYEUCHRE Fight tables were in play at the weekly euchre which was held in the Women's Institute Hall Wednesday, January 29. After opening the Lodge the secretary Mary Lowe read a thank you from the King family and greetings from Audrey and Lloyd Mayer. Accounts were paid and several members reported visiting the ill and shut-ins, Plans were completed' for •the Dessert Euchre Monday at 10 a. m. The prizes were donated and each member is reminded to send dessert. UNITED CH URCH NEW S Rev. Carpentier's semonwas on Faith and Forgiveness and the choir had an anthem presentation Sunday at Brussels United Church. Prayers were said for the sick as well'as for Nettie Bartley and Elvin McWhirter, in W ingham hospital, and Mildred W heeler, in Stratford hospital, The Morning Group invited everyone to the Church kitchen every second and fourth Wednesday from 9:45 to 11:30 a,m, for tun and fellowship, They also recycle old Christmas and greeting cards for use at the children's. bazaar, Artificial flowers and plastic bottles, are also needed. A box is set up in the'church for deposits. The afternoon unit of the United Church Women met Tuesday, February 4. The evening unit would like to invite anyone who would just like to visit and give a friendly smile to Join them for the Callander Nursing Home birthday party on Thursday at 2 p.m. Phyllis Mitchell and Freda Pipe will be entertaining. Bible Study (Basic Christian Beliefs) is Monday at 8 p.m. in the church parlor. Everyone ,is welcome. February 9 is the installation of members and committee of Stewards and Session.
