Silver Strings entertain presidents

Seaforth; Health Care Facility residents
danced tolMarie Flynn and the Silver Strings
during the past week.
Also hp Monday the residents went
bowling and the winner was Pat Ryan.
On Tuesday public school volunteers
helped, residents with bean bag toss and
wheelchair bowling: Jim Nolan and Cassie
Nicholson were the. winners.
On Wednesday, Rev. Vanslyke held, the
worship service and Edith Dunlop accompan-
ied, on the piano for the hymns. Mrs.
Vanslyke helped with the singing and visited
with the residents.
On Thiirsday. Rose and Pat Altman were
dinner guests with their parents, Dave and
Eva Netzke on the occasion of their 72nd
wedding anniversary.
Rev. Cheryl Ann Stadelbauer-Sampa was
in for her weekly visitation and said the
blessings.
The residents presented Dave and Eva
with a candy dish, then volunteers helped
serve punch and anniversary cake to the
residents.
On Friday residents played bingo and on
Saturday, Peter Malcolm came in and played
the bagpipes for Robbie Burns day.

Jim and Lena White of Sarnia visited Pat
Ryan and took him out for lunch.
Laverne Nigh took her grandmother Lucy
Bezzo home for the day. Bill Bezzo and wife of
Stratford and W ilfred Bezzo of Clinton also
visited,
Leo O'Sullivan went out with his brother
James for a day.
Mary Nolan was in to visit her husband Jim
Nolan,
Isabel Scott was in to visit her. husband,
Bill.
Marjorie Maloney was in to see Harold
Maloney,
Eva and Dave Netzke had many visitors on
Thursday including Terrance. Hussey, Mary
McIver, Ann Downey, Mary Chapple,
Margaret Smale, Rev. Simmons, Pat and
Rose Altman, Loretta Bennewies and daugh-
ters Christine and Lisa.
Jack Nicholson of Cambridge visited with
his mother Cassie Nicholson.
Mina Scott was in to visit Dorothy Carter
and Carol Geddes,
Father Caruana was in to see Mary Ryan.
Mary, Lamont Was in to visit •cousin Kelly

OBITUARIES
GORDON EMERSON HEARD
Gordon Emerson Heard of RR 2, Seaforth
died Monday, January 27, 1986 at Stratford
General Hospital. He was 64.
Mr, Heard is survived by his wife, the
former Juen Brandon, son Donald, at home
and daughter Linda, of Waterloo.
Also surviving is one brother George, of RR
3, Bayfield, and one sister Betty (Mrs. Herb
Kirkham) of London.
The family will receive friends at the
Whitney-Ribey Funeral Home, 87 Goderich
Street West, Seaforth, after 2 p.m. today
(Wednesday) and until 2 p.m. Thursday
when a funeral service will be held at the
funeral home. Spring interment Bayfield
Cemetery. A Legion memorial service will be
held at the funeral home tonight at 9 p.m.
DANIELNiCHOISON
Daniel Nicholson of Lucknow died at
W ingham and District Hospital on Tuesday,
January 21, 1986. He was 98.
Predeceased by his wife Alberta he is
survived by one son and four daughters, one
of whom is Donalda (Mrs. W.R. Smith) of
Egmondville.
Funeral services were held Thursday,
January'23 from McKenzie and McCreath
Funeral Home in Lucknow.
'Mr. Nicholson was living with the Smiths
before entering the hospital and was well
known in this area.
JOHN W ALTER PEASE
John W alter (W at) Pease of Morris
Township, died Wednesday, January 22,
1986 at the Seaforth Community Hospital. He
was 75.
The son of the late Elijah Pease and the
former Elizabeth Young he is survived by one
sister, Irene Pease of Listowel and brothers
Bert,of Mitchell, and Allan, Bill and Lloyd,
all oMorris '1'ownsnrp.
Also surviving are several nieces and
nephews.
• He was predeceased by one brother
Malcolm.
Friends called at the Brussels Chapel and a
service was held from M.L. Watts Funeral
Hpmes on Saturday. The Reverend Vic
Jamieson officiated. interment Blyth Ceme-
tery.
Pallbearers were Bert Elliott, Ronald
Gordon, Elliott Somers, Sam Pletch, Lloyd
Appleby and Carmen Craig. Flower bearers
were Laurie Appleby and Brenda Gordon.

JOSEPH THOMAS O'ROURKE
Joseph Thomas O'Rourke of 1111.1 Dublin
died Sunday, January 12, 1986 at Seaforth
Community Hospital. He was 65.
Son of the late Thomas and Evangeline
O'Rourke, he is survived by sisters Dorothy
(Mrs. Frank) Robinson of Burlington, Kath-
ryn (Mrs. Clayton) Looby of Dublin and
brothers Jack of RR1, Dublin, Bill of Dublin
and Patrick of Burlington.
He was predeceased by two sisters
Margaret and Pearl.
The family received friends at the W hit-
ey-Ribey Funeral Home in Seaforth until
Tuesday when Mass of the -Christian Burial
was held' at St. Patrick's Roman Catholic
Church, Dublin. lntermen,t SL Patrick's
Cemetery. Parish prayers were held at the
funeral home.
Pallbearers were Terry McCarthy, Keith
McCarthy, Jim Delaney, Martin Van Bake!,
Frank Kistner and Harold Meagher.
MICHAEL JOSEPH DOYIE
Michael Joseph Doyle of Zurich died
Wednesday, January 8, 1986 at the South
Huron Hospital in Exeter. He was 77.
He is survived by his wife Genevieve
LaPlante, daughters Mary Ellen (Mrs. John
kamson) of Thorndale and Rose Doyle of
ham; son John of Toronto; step -children
Zimmer of Vancouver, Barbara Arnez-
of London, Evelyn Huston of Montreal,
Catherine Glanville of Walton, Annette
Weido of Landon, .Carl Zimmer of Hensel]
and Patricia Knapp of Alberta.
He was a brother to Neil and Ted of Dublin,
Flank of Toronto and Sister Theodore of
Chatham; grandfather to 13 and great-grand-
father to one.
He was predeceased by his first wife
Catherine Cook and one sister Mary Smith.
Friends called at the Whitney-Rlbey
Funeral Home in Seaforth until Saturday
when Mass of the Christian Burial was held at
St. Columban Church, SL Coiumban. Spring
interment St. Columban Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Percy Bedard, Bill Smith.
Bob Fisher. Harry Reynen, Jack Dearing and
Joe Barry.

Edith Logan, formerly Edith Jackson, of
Huronview, Clinton and formerly of Blyth,
died at Clinton Public Hospital on Thursday,
January 23, 1986. She was 103.
Predeceased by her husband William in
1944, she is survived by one sister, Maud
MacDonald of Sarnia and three daughters,
Lillian Jackson Sinclair, of St. Thomas; Effie
Logan Stephenson, of Seaforth and Kathleen
(Mrs. Les Naftel) of Barrie.
Also surviving are four grandchildren, 15
great-grandchildren and one great -great-
granddaughter.
MARY EDNA McDONALD
Mary Edna McDonald, formerly Mary
Knight, of Walton, died Saturday, January
25, 1986 at Huronview, Clinton. She was 85.
The daughter of the lafe Andrew Knight
and Martha Bolger Mrs. McDonald was
predeceased by her husband James in 1976.
She is survived by two sons, Ken and Don
of Walton and a daughter, Mary (Mrs.
Murray liuether) of Brussels; 13 grandchild-
ren and 18 great-grandchildren.
Friends called at the Brussels Chapel and a
committal service was held from the M.L.
Watts Funeral Homes on Monday. The
Reverend Bonnie Lamble officiated.
As expressions of sympathy donations can
be made to the Walton United Church
Memorial Ftmd or the Kidney Foundation.

Betty. Christenia Pennington, fornierly
Betty Hoar, of Mussels, died Tuesday,
January 21, 1986 at her residence. She was
58.
Predeceased by her husband James
Pennington in 1961 she is survived by three
Sons, Earl, of Gbdericb, Ken of Cambridge
and Kevin, at home, and one grandchild,
Jason Pennington.
Also surviving are three sisters, Ella
Graber, of Brussels; Viola (Mrs Albeit
Johnson and Freda Skean, both of Mitchell;
and brothers, Pete, of Mitchell and Fled of
Alberta.
Friends called at the Brussels Chapel,
M.L. Watts Funeral lierries and service wale
held from St. John's Anglican Church on
Thursday. The Reverend Robin Lyons
officiated Interment at Brhfssels,Canetery.
