:.,.,The..Seaforth Centenaires squeezed four
points out of 6, recent.three game road swing
•inOHA Western JuniorD hockey action, with
a win over Thaghesford Trojans and tvo ties 4 p4, {�f4z;4I'i
against the Tavistock Braves.
Sunday in Thamesford, Seaforth earthed a
fgttow 7-8 victory over the Trojans on the
strength of three power play goals in the third
period.
The Trojans opened the scoring with a pair
of goals before the mid -point of the first
period, but the Centenaires came back with
two or their own to tie it up at two apiece.
Dave Murray scored the first of these goals, a
short-handed,unassisted effort at the 12:01
niark and Dan Wesenberg scored three
minutes later, assisted by Mike Betties and
,ferry Wright. Thamesford regained the lead
before the frame ended on a goal by' Terry
Whalen.
The teams traded goals in the second
period; leaving the Centenaires behi{id by
one, after two periods of Inlay. Gerard, Ryan
hit the twine, with an assist to Rob Cere.
W right and Core connected for Seafbrth's
first of four in the third period, W right'rs goal
was the only third -period Seaforth tally that
didn't come on the power play. Dave Akey
scored twice in the third period and Wright
put the other one past Darryl Capers, who
faced over 40 shots in the Trojan goal. Murray
and Jim Campbell each collected two assists
in the period and Akey added one.
TIED TAVISTOCK TW ICE
The first of two ties with the Tavistock
Braves came on January 17, as the
Centenaires were unable to hold the one -goal
lead they took into the third period, allowing
the Braves to tie the game 4-4,
Kevin Melady scored a pair for Seaforth in
the game, before being ejected from that
game and the next two, for his part in the
third period scrap which involved four
players from each team.
Core, Murray and Campbell were also
thrown out of the game, along with four of the
Braves, as a result of the altercation.
' Wright had a goal and two assists in the
contest and recent acquisition Andy Russell
scored the other Seaforth marker. Tom
Turner picked up a pair of assists, while
Murray, Bill Dale and Campbell added'.single
assists.
W hen the final buzzer sounded on January
25, the two teams were again deadlocked at'
four goals apiece. Murray was in on all four

Team work gives Novice squad a big win
Seaforth Novice played one of their best
team effort games so far this season Friday
when they defeated Milverton 15-3.
Passing was the key to this latest victory for
the Novice. Scoring for Seaforth was Mike
Watt with three goals and four assists, Dean
Finnigan with three goals and one assist,
Mike Devereaux with two goals and one Assists also went to Harold Hugill, Jeff
assist, Steve Mclnally with one goal and one Ryan, Jeff Flannigan, Justin Rodney, Patrick

WOAA playoffs have begun
SEAFORTH AND DISTRICT MINOR
HOCKEY are full swing into the first round of
the %V.O.A.A. playoffs. The Pee Nees and
Bantams are playing off against Mitchell and
the Midgets will he battling with Durham.
The Midgets play their first game against
Durham Tuesday, February 4 at 8:15 p.m.
This series should prove to be exciting due to
the rivalry between the two dubs. All
Seaforth tears can use as much fan support
as possible,
GYMNASTICS REGISTRATION will take
place at the Arena from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. on
Saturday. February 1. The first class will
begin on Saturday, February 8 at the high
school from 10.12 noon. This program will
fast I 0 weeks and will cost $30 per person, W e
are still ]Dotting for volunteers to help our
instructors with the classes. Anyone interest•

Midgets whip
On January20 Seaforth travelled to Zurich
and defeated them 12-7.
Opening the scoring for Seaforth was Ray
Anstett followed by two quick goals by Ron
Pryce. Ztirich scored one at the 5:51 mark
ending the first period 3-1 for Seaforth.

include Soup and Me. Ida Makes a Movie and
Freaky Friday.

The Seaforth BROOMBALL LEAGUE is
sponsoring a broomball tournament this
weekend with teams from all over southwest-
ern Ontario attending. Games begin on
Friday, at 7 p.m.
Play starts Saturday at 610 a.m. and lasts
until 1 a.m. Meals will be available in the
large hall Saturday and Sunday. Come out
and support the Seaforth Broomball league.
PUBUUC SKATING will not be held this
weekend because of the brvornball tourna-
ment, but there will be Public Skating on.
