That Long Ago Day by Cindy Visser St. Patrick's, Dublin Gr.5 , Christmas is a happy time, Time to pray, Time to remember, That long ago day. On that long ago day, Christ was born, He was born in a manger, Out of danger. He was born in Bethlehem, In the straw, He was born where the cattle eat, In the manger clean and sweet, There was a bright, shiny star, That shepherd saw from afar, They came to the stable, To see the Baby Jesus. Mary was his mother's name, Joseph was his father's name, They had lots of love, To give to Baby Jesus. The baby didn't get toys, He got gold, frankincense and myrrh From the three Wisemen, He didn't get a coat of fur. So when Christmas is_finally here_ Don't think of Santa, that will soon be here, You'll hear people give a cheer, So open your hearts, For Jesus is near! Why do we receive presents, And put up a tree, When the birthday, Doesn't belong to we? So since Christmas isn't really ours, Look up at the stars You will remember what happened Long ago afar.
