Christmas is a blessed time of love. Christmas activities began at the Seaforth Manor last week with a candle lighting Ad- vent serviceon Monday afternoon. Lighting the candles were Mable Handy, Doris Smith and Edith Salo. Readers were Mary Finlayson and Patrick Ryan, with ,prayer •given by Frank Smale. After the service Christmases in Norway and Sweden were highlighted. The annual Residents Chrustmas party was held on Thursday afternoon with relatives as guests and volunteers assisting. Gladys Van Egmond and Elgin Nott sup- plied good old tyme music for everyone's • listening and dancing pleasme. Treats were given out to residents and a tasty lunch served. •• Tuesday was wheelchair bowling with students from Seaforth Public School's Grade 6 class as volunteers. In the afternoon • bingo was held in the activity room. The worship service was held on Wednes- • day afternoon with Bethel Bible Church hi charge. Several ladies from the congrega- tion assisted with readings, A social time followed. Thursday evening a group of ladies from the hospital visited residents and sang -'-carols. Friday the film show was an old Charlie Chaplin movie from the silent film era. Patrick also remembered all the clergy on behalf of the Nursing Rome and residents. The staff of Seafoarth Manor held its staff party on Wednesday evening commencing with a banquet held at the Queen's Hotel. Followinglhe dinner members returned to the Manor for an evening of dards and socializing. Ruth Nolan and Dorothea Williamson presented gifts to Ruth Hildebrand; Ad- ministrator, and Joanne Ryan, DOC, on behalf of the staff and Patrick Ryan also FULL HONORS - The Seaforth Manor recently received positive reinforcement from the. Canadian Cound,on Hospital Accredition when it was awarded the highest ac- credition possible. The Manor received three year accredition based on how well the facility is functionning and the high quality of care given its residents. The home was not downgraded at all because of the age of its facility. PEOPLE • Mary K. Ryan spent Friday at thehome of Mr. and Mrs. George Simpson. Alice Boyes spent Friday at the home of her daughters. Maplewood residents see, production Residents of Maplewood Manor have en- joyed many Christmas •activities this week. Monday they were treated to the dress rehearsal of the Seaforth Public School's production of "Scrooge - A Christmas Carol". Residents in the addierice were Gertie Taylor, Agnes Hunter, Grace Tit - ford, Elva Ellis, Jean Elliott, Anne Crerar, Elsie Shaddick and Jean Guy. _Tuesday afternoon, euchre and bridge were enjoyed by the residents. Euchre players were Pete and Willie Tremeer, Gertie Taylor, Ethel Coleman, Austin Matheson, Ed and Jean Johns, Grace Tit - ford, Elsie Sliaddick and Jean Guy. The door prize of a Christmas chime was won • by Pete Tremeer. The game of bridge was enjoyed by Agnes • Hunter, Winona .McDougall, Anne Crerar and .Lloyd Rowat. Birthday greetings to Anna Shemin who celebrated her birthday on Tuesday with members of her family. On Wednesday residents gathered early to get a good seat for the sing along with the Grade 13 studentsafrom the Seaforth ' District High School. NedBoswell added to the program with a Christmas recitation. It was a most enjoyable morning for all. Thursday morning Carol Carter came and led in many Of the residents' favorite Christmas carols. Joining in were Helen Dallas, Esther Thompson, Gertie Taylor, Agnes Hunter, Winona McDougall, Ed Johns, Jean Guy, Grace Titford, Anne Crerar, Arnold Lamont, Ned Boswell, Laura Toll and dgar Allan. Bridge was played in the afternoon. Players were Lloyd Rowat, Apne Crerar, Agnes Hunter and Winona McDougall. In the news missed last week: Edgar Allan, Ed Andrews, Pete Tremeer and Edna Lloyd all enjoyed bowling. Edgar Allan won the door prize of a Christmas decoration. when residents gathered to play euchre. Rev. Barber conducted the weekly wor- ship service. The residents and staff enjoyed a wonderful staff Christmas dinner. • Anne Crerar celebrated her birthday and everyone enjoyed her birthday cake. Edith Dunlop provided music for the sing along. Barbara Scott and Peg Coombs delivered Christmas parcels to the veterans at the home, from the Seaforth Legion Ladies' Auxiliary:, A The residents were' visited by members of the broomball league, who delivered treats. County supports rescue, support program Agreement in principle has been granted by Huron County Council to a proposal for establishing a country -wide rescue and support system.
