This past weekend the Seaforth Ringette
Tweens were entered into a tournament in
Mitchell. The girls played four good' garnet
and came home with the Silver medal.
The first game of the tournament waant,
• played against Dorchester on Friday even=
ingrDorehesterproved•to•be.thebettenteam_...,
by defeating Seaforth girls 5-3. Scoring for
Seaforth were Tracy Fortune with two goals
. and Jill Betties with one. An assist went to
Cheryl Mcllwain.
On Saturday morning at 7 a.m. the girls
were wide awake to defeat the Mitchell
teain•9-2. Scoring in this game were Jill Bet-
ties with three, Cheryl McElwain and Tracy
Fortune withtwo apiece and Kris Gemmell
and Jodie Hugill getting one apiece. Assists
went to' Cheryl McLlwain with three, Jill
Betties with, 2, and getting one each were
Janice Rodney, ' Tracy Fortune, Melody
Turner, Kerry McMillan and Jodie Hugill
The third game was against Rosedale
Saturday afternoon and the girls still played
strong to .defeat Rosedale 94. Cheryl McL1-
• wain led the scoring with four goals and two
assists. Tracy Fortune scored twice and had
two 'assists: Jill Betties. scored two goals,
and Janice Rodney get one goal and one
assist. Also a_ssfsting on_g als Kris
Gemmell with twe, and Kim Rau and Julie just couldn't catch .up.: Dorchester, '
Carter getting one assist. therefore, won the game. A well played
game by both teams.
The final game was against their first
rival, Dorchester on Sunday afternoon for Scoring' in this game was Cheryl McLI-

Petites win one and lose one
Seaforth Ringete Petites travelled to
Forest Saturday End won 6.0.• Goalie Katie
Craig came up with her second shut out this
season against them.
Scoring for Seaforth were Jill Wood with a
hat trick, Lisa McKay,'scoring her first goal
of the season, and Kelly Rau and .Lisa
Gingerich with one each. Assists went to Jill
Wood with two, Lisa Gfngerich, Lisa McKay
o were and Jennifer *mon each with one.

IHL teams come close
Some of the best industrial hockey
teams in the area were in Seaforth on the
weekend for the Seaforth Industrial
Hockey League Tournament.
There where twelve teams including
three from Seaforth participating.
The first game saw two of the Seaforth
teams facing off as the Beatrers took on
the Sunday Morning Boys. The more ex-
perienced Beaver crew trade short work
of the Sunday Morning crew, defeating
them 9-4.
The Beavers completely dominated the
first period scoring the five goals they
would win by. Mark, Mc twain scored
twice for the. Beavers in the peFiod, anti.
would take the MVP for the genie: Also
making a big contribution for the
Beavers on the scoreboard was Murray
Henderson who got four goals and an
Another local team, the Tuesday
Nighters, took on the London Selects,
another team made up mostly of local
players, in the first round of play on Fri-
day night.
The Tuesday nighters had their hands
full but somehow came up with the win.
The Selects were sent into the'B' division
of the tournament, while the Tuesday
righters went on in the 'A'.
On Saturday afternoon the Sunday
Morning team took on the Bornholm
Bruisers and were eliminated from the
tournament as the Bruisers won 3-2. Bor-
nholm had a 3-0 lead after the first period
but John Mark Nash, Laurie Kruse and
Ken Janmaat teamed up to put two goals
away and keep their team in the game.
But the Sunday morning crew failed to
capitalize on their scoring opportunities
late in the game and retired to the lounge
early. Laurie Kruse got the Most
Valuable PIayer of the 'genie award.
The Seaforth Beavers took on the
Holmesville Rockets in one of the fastest
games of the tournament in the second
round of play •on Saturday. There were
fast breaks frog one end to the other as
two offensive teams created a lot of good
scoring opportunities, but it was the
Rockets who cashed in on tntif theirs
and came away with a 6-3 win to
eliminate the Beavers.
Murray Henderson scored twice and
got an assist for the Beavers, while Paul
Rau got the other goal and assisted on
both of Henderson's. Bill Weber also
picked up two assists.
The Tuesday Night Boys came up
against the London Honkers and made
short work of them, No goals were scored
, in the first period, and only one was put
away in the second period as Pete
Martene teamed up with Joe Anstett and
Rob Armstrong for the fust.
But the third period saw the Tuesday
Nighters really sake off and they. put
away five goals. Tom Johnson got the
first of the period assisted by Pete
Martene and Dave Garrick. Joe Anstett
got the next two, the first unassisted and
the next assistel by Rob Armstrong.
Marc Robinet scored the fourth assisted
by Marty Bedarc, and Al Nigh iced the
cake with Graham Nesbitt and Robinet
in on the play.
With 22 secotds on the clock the
Honkers scored :o rob goaltender Ray
Anstett of his shu out, and make the final
score 6-1.
The Tuesday Nghters, Seaforth's last
changg at IHL gory. in, the tournament,
took on the Listowel Zilliax club in the
semi-finals in tin; 'A' division. It was a
tight game, and Listowel jumped into an
early two goal lead. Seaforth finally got
on the board in de second period as Joe
Anstett put one in unassisted.
Going into the third period with a two
goal lead Listowelput another goal away
to put the Tuesda* Night goys in need of
some fast goals late in the game. One
came from Joe Arstett again assisted by '
Jeff Campbell.wel answered with
another of their, and even though
Rob Armstrong *cocked in another Tues-
day Nighters marker with help from
Glendon Coombs, the tying goal wouldn't
come and the local club was eliminated.
Listowel went of to take on the Rockets
in the 'A' final and beat them 4-2 to
become the tournament champions.
Another team earrying local players,
the London Selects, went to the 'B' final
where they took oh the Stratford Wolves.
The selects drew first blood on a goal
from Paul Priestap that was assisted by
Brad Fischer. Priestap scored again in
the period on his own and Stratford got
two of their own to tie the game.
• In the second period the select§ again
put the first puck, away, and Priestap
was again the man to do it, this time
assisted by Stere Southgate. But the
Wolves closed the gap with a goal of their
own in the final minutes of play in the
period.
In the third period Priestap scored his
fourth goal with : assists going to Dan
Nicholson and Brad Fischer. Stratford
failed to put away a tieing goal and the
Selects took the 'W championships.
The 'A' champsteceived $500 and hats
donated by Hensall Coop, The rtuniers
up go $300 and hats from W.G. Thompson
Limited.
The winners of the 'B' division receiv-
ed $300 and hats donated by Seaforth
Automotive. The 'B' runners up got $150.
Players watched themselves play
hockey in the lounge courtesy of Bex Fur-
niture who donated a television, and Ken
Doig Junior who donated the video
equipment.

the girls put up a super effort including
goalie Lisa Gingerich, who had to•make a lot
of great saves.
Scoring for Seaforth were Kelly Rau with
. two and Trish Smith with one. Assists went
to Carrie McElwain with two and Christa
Leonhardt with one.
This Saturday the Petites travel to 'Mit-
chell then back on home ice to face Exeter
Sunday -at 5 pm
Secihawks suffer
•
season •s worst loss
'The Seaforth Seahawks suffered their,
worst loss to • date last weekend when
they faced the Brussels Intermediates in
Brussels on Sunday.
Last time the Seahawks • tackled
Brussels, in their second league game of
the season, they were bombed out 8-3.
That was their worst loss until last Sun-
day. This time facing Brussels on home
ice the Seahawks were short a lot of ,
regular players and dressed only 11
players and a goalie. Brussels was all
over the local club from the beginning,
and scored six goals in the first period.
Seaforth didn't.score.
In the second period the 'Hawks
started the scoring on an unassisted goal
• by Brian Coombs. They stayed with
Brussels throughout the period, and
while Brussels scored two answering
goals. Seaforth got another one to tie the
period. Jim' Campbell got the next goal
for the Seahawks, again unassisted.
The Seahawks went into the third
period down six goals facing a score of
8-2. But Brussels :wasn't done yet and
they put four more pucks away to make it
a 12-2 final.
The 'Hawks record is now three wins
and four losses. The Seahawks next home
game will be this Sunday at 1:30 p.m.
when they face Wellesley: Last time the
two teams met Wellesley defeated the
Seahawks by a score of 5-1.
