at meeting
The Seaforth, Horticultural Society
meeting began with a delicious potluck sup-
per at Seaforth Public school on Wednesday,
November 18. President Luanne Phair an-
nounced that due to her new position` as
Clerk of The Town 'of Hensall she will he
leaving Seaforth and first vice president
Margaret De Jong will be the new Presi-
dent. Also temporary Secretary Steve
Hildebrand, will be stepping down and
Helen McNaughton will be filling that
position. -
A Santa Claus parade float was planned
and anyone wishing to help please contact
Mary McLeod or Cor Van Der Prytan.
Two films were shown which were very in-
teresting and door prizes were drawn.. •
Luanne expressed thanks to all the com-
mittees who were so willing to -cooperate
over the last year. A vote of thanks was ex-

x"tended to Luanne for all her work as
Treasurer and President of the Society.
The next meeting will be held at the school
on February 10, 1988. At that time, members
-will be able to -sign -up-for-trees.___.

year end party:
The Seaforth Junior Farmers:held a card
party November 23. There were 19 tables
playing and the winners were:' Ladies High
hand, Mary McMillan; Ladies Low !hand,
Sarah Elliott; Men's High hand, Helen
Byers; Men's Low hand, Mary Tupul;
Ladies Lone hand, Mary Coleman and
• Men's Lone hand, Gord Murray.
This will probably be the last card party
for this year. Christmas draws near ' and

munity Hospital are in Toronto this week at-
tending the annual convention of the Ontario
Hospital Association.
Those present include Board Chairman
Fred Tilley and members Jim Etue, Brian

Garry Osborne and chief executive officer
Gordon McKenzie.

ding on certain days When subjects for
which they are responsible are being

learned how Norval Bell, who escaped from.

A Huron County Junior Farmers debating
team won the first roundof a provincial
competition Tuesday when they presented a
picture of the Ontario county system as be-
ing obsolete, incompetent, and too costly to
administer.
The Huron team outpointed a tease from
BruceCounty and will now meet the
Lincoln-Haldimand winners in semi-final
competitions.
