The Walton Area Sports Club held its
November meeting at the home of Ernie and
Annette Levvington.-It was discussed tickets --
will be on sale for a 4 -wheeler to be drawn at
the Poker Rally, February 7 and ball
registration fees will be higher next year. ,
The next meeting is today, December 2 at
8 p.m. at the Walton Library. This is the an-
nual meeting, anyone in the community is
urged to attend.
VISITORS
Mr. and Mrs. Allan Campbell, Winthrop,
Mr. and Mrs. William Campbell, Seaforth
/ and Evelyn Holt, Wingham were dinner
guests Tuesday of last week with Ruth
Thamer.
Mary Humphries spent a few days this

IRVIN W. LEONHARDT
Irvin William Leonhardt, formerly • of
Brodhagen, died Thursday, November 26,
1987 at his London residence. He was 77.
Born in Logan Township on July 3, 1910,
Mr. Leonhardt Was a son of the late George
Leonhardt and the former Christena
Heckman.. On September 27, 1952 he was
married to the former J. Margaret Hannon.
Following their marriage the couple resided
13 Brohagen until November 1986. Mr.
Leonhardt was a member of St. Peter's
Lutheran Church, Brodhagen.
Mr. Leonhardt is survived by his wife, the
former J. Margaret Hannon and daughter
Donna (Mrs.. Ron Thompson) of RR 2
Thorndale.
Also surviving are a brother Carl
Leonhardt of Seaforth, a sisterIrene Eisler
of Mitchell and grandchildren Kurtis, Philip
and Samantha Thompson.
Mr. Leonhardt was predeceased by three
brothers and one sister.
Friends were received at the Lockhart
Funeral Home in Mitchell and a funeral ser-
vice was held on Saturday at 2 p.m. with the
Reverend Arthur Horst officiating. Inter-
ment in St. Peter's Lutherri Cemetery,
Brodhagen.
Expressions of sympathy were shown
through floral tributes and memorial dona-
tions to the Huron Perth Lung Association,
Heart and Stroke Foundation, Canadian
Cancer SoCiety, St. Peter's Church lin,
provement Fund, Grace Lutheran Building
Fund, First Lutheran Memorial Fund and
Gideon Bibles.
ALFRED EDGAR CUDMORE
Alfred Edgar Cutimore of RIt 1 Hensall,
died Wednesday, November 25, 1987 at
University Hospital, London. He was 82.
Mr. Cudmore was a life member of the
South Huron Gideon and on the board of
Youth for Christ and Women A 0lOw.
He is survived by his wife, the former
Muriel Keyes, daughter Marjorie Mac-
Donald of Brampton and daughte.r-M-1Etw
Mary Cassel of RR 1 Woodham.
Also surviving are seven grandchildren;
five great grandcluldren; and brothers Mer-
vin Cudmore of Exeter and Harold Cuchitore
of tisborne Twp.
He was predeceased by his son Alvin in
1974 and a brother Gordon.
Friends called at the T. Harry Hoffman
and Sons Funeral Horne, Dashwood and a
funeral service and committal was held
Saturday at the Zurich Mennonite Church,
with the Reverend Clayton. Kuepfer Of

Mt, Cole' was a son of the late Thomet
Coleman arid the tether Mary Agnes
Trivet. On June 20, 1022 he Married the
fernier Ethel Smith, who survives him.
Abe surviving are two daughter, tiotethy
and her husband Ernest Talbot of RR 2 Kip -
pen, Hazel and her husband George
Hildebrand of Seaforth, one son Emerson

A funeral service was held Wednesday,
November -25 at the Ball and Falconer "Bet
Funeral. Chripei" Seaforth. Interment
Maitland Hank Cemetery. The Reverend
Cheryl Mm Stade.lbagetssoupa officiated.
Pallbearers were Paul gettles, Beverly

Flower bearers were Brian Wilson and
Richard Wood.
OBITUARIES1
As.sembly of the Canadian Foresters, held at
Wallaceburg on November 20-21. On Sunday
morning about 60 of the Foresters attended
the church service at Corunna where Rev.
Stanley McDonald is the minister. About 200
Foresters attended the banquet on Saturday
evening in the Oak Inn at which time Jack
Conley was named Forester of the year for
Western Ontario. $6,140 was donated to
Cancer Research, $2,000 to Diabetic
Research, $2000 to Aldheimers Disease, and
$3600 to Canadian Foresters Games for the
Physically Disabled., It was a very suc-
cessful assembly.
The Community Centre has been a busy
spot. The Knight families had an early
Christmas on ,November 21 and the Terp-
stras are celebrating theirs on Sunday,
November 29. The Canadian Foresters
hosted a family dance on Friday evening
with music supplied by Tiffin's orchestra.

JOHN EDWARD TURNER
John Edward. Turner, of Huronview and
formerly of Tuckersmith Township, died in
Clinton Public Hospital on November 28. He
was ;.; years old.
Mr. Turner was born on September 17,
1899 to the late George Nelson and Emma
.Caroline (Shipley) Turner. On August 31,
1927 he married the late Pearl Irene Crich.
Following their marriage, the Turners
farmed on the farm that Mr. Turner was
raised on, and he lived there until moving to
Huronview 13 1984.
He was a member of Ontario Street
United Church and was a former member of
Turner's Church as well as being the
treasurer and caretaker of the church for
many years until it closed. At that time, he
joined the Ontario Street United Church.
Mr. Turner is survived by one daughter,
Mrs. Reg T. (Helen) Lawson of Londesboro
and one son, George and his wife Nancy of
RR4 Seaforth. He is also survived by four
grandchildren, John and Elizabeth Lawson
and Barry and Bonnie Turner.
Mr. Turner was predeceased by one
granddaughter, Linda Tumor; two. sisters,
Hattie Turner and Mrs. Fre (I (Mary)
Elliott; and one brother, Harold Turner.
A funeral and committal service was held
on December 1 at Ball and Falconer
Funeral Home, Clinton, with Rev. David
Woodall officiating, assisted by Rev. David
Snihur.

Alachlor use
to be restored
The Alachlor Review Board has com-
pleted its study otthe widely -used herbicide.
Although the board recognizes there may
be some potential risk involved, it has
recommended the registration of alachlor
be restored.
The board's recommendations will be ex-
amined in detail before any decision on the'
herbicide continued use is made, said
Agriculture Minister John Wise,
Alachlor, sold in Canada under the trade
name Lasso for 16 years, was banned 13 1985
after tests suggested a link to cancer in
laboratory animals. It is used to control
weeds in corn and soybean crop.
The five -member review board was set up
in the fall of 1985 after the manufacturer,
Monsanto Canada, appealed the ban.
