Third period works against Centenaires
The Seaforth Centenaires showed a lot or
improvementthis weekend •as they took on
Lambeth at home on Friday night, then
tackled the tough Exeter Hawks on Sunday.
On Friday night the Centenaires had the
fans behind them as they kept the score
close for the first 40 minutes of play. In the
first period the teams scored a goal each
with Terry Pugh putting one in for Seaforth
assisted by Blair Beuennann.
In the second, period there was no lull in
the action as Seaforth scored three times
late in the period. The first goal came from
team captain Mike Betties assisted by
Kevin Melady. Assistant captain Kevin
Williamson scored the next two with help
from Ron Pryce, Mike Betties, and Brad
Carter. Lambeth only managed to get two
past goalie Trevor Fortune in the period,
even though they had 27 shots, and Seaforth
came out of the period a goal up.
In' the third period things didn't go the
way they could have for the local team.
Lambeth went on a scoring spree and put
six goals in the net to end the game with a
score of 9-4. •
One of the coaches for the Centenaires,
Graham Nesbitt, said penalties killed the
team in the third period. There were some
calls made that were disputable, and
Lambeth got three power play goals in the
third period.
'
He said players might aiso have been a lit-
tle teritative about using the new system,
Mr. Nesbitt is emptying. But Mr. Nesbitt
said in time the system will become natural
and the guys will do things out of natural
reaction- instead of having to think about
what to do first.
Mr. Nesbitt also gives credit to the
Lambeth team, saying it is a good team and
players stuck with what they were doing un-
til it started to pay off.
Things didn't look too optimistic for the
Centenaires going in to face Exeter on Sun-
day. The team was missing hall of its
players due to school exams, and only one
regular dtfenseman was at the game. Two
midget players, Bill Tremeer and Telly
Gray came out to help the team fill in the

came up with a lot of good saves to keep the
team in the game, but Exeter scored three
more in the third to make the final score 6-4.
The shots on goal for the game were 44-38 in
Exeter's favour.,
"We can't give any more than what we're
gluing now. If we had 10 more skaters we'd
have blown them away," said coach
Nesbitt.
He said the team played 60 minutes of
good hockey, but you can't have three for-
wards playing defence and hope to get much
offence."
`'They knew they were in a game last
night and they knew they were in a game
Friday night," he added.
The Centenaires will be play next 'on
November 20 when they take on Wellesley.

• The Novie boys hockey team was all
fired up frdn their house league games
when they hisded to Brussels Saturday for a
• game againT E1ma .Logan. They won that
game 7-0.
It wasn't ht two minutes into the game
when ShawilAnstett, assisted by Brandon
Nash, tuckenll one in the opposing net. Not
even one ute later Charles Robertson,
assisted Mak Van Dooren,- and Seaforth
had two goal on the scoreboard. At the 4:54
mark of the frst period Chris Marion single-
handedly tu ted another goal by the other
goalie to giv Seaforth three.
The serum sei'ont neriod consisted of a lot more
passing, but no-one managed to score until
the 6:30,mark. At that time Shawn Anstett
scored again, this time assisted by Chris
Marion. Then Chris Marion skated down the
ice and scored one single-handedly.
The third period was full of lots of team ef-
fort - passing, getting rebounds and just
great .team work. But goalie Joshua Dietz
had to stay awake for those breakaways the
other team liked to steal. However, it was
only Seaforth who managed to count two
more on the board. The first came from
Scott Wood, assisted by Pat Gridzak, and
the second from Chris Marion, giving him a
hat trick.

victory. Seaforth had lots of chance, but
just couldn't beat the Mitchell goalie.
