Seaforth girl wins entrance scholarship
A recent graduate of Central Huron
Secondary School in Clinton, has been
awarded an entrance scholarship to the
University of St. Jerome's College in
Waterloo. The scholarship has a value of
$1,200.

Patricia Ann Menheere and Richard
Allen Harris were married Saturday,
November 14, 1987 at St. James Roman
Catholie Church, Seaforth by the Reverend
J.C. Caruana. The bride is the daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. Hugo Menheere of RR 4
Seaforth and the groom is the son of Mr. and
Mrs. Don Harris of RR 4 Denfield. Matron
of honor was Sandra Jansen of Seaforth and
best man was Gary Heantan of Thorndale.
Guests were ushered by Tom Harris of RR 4
Denfield and John Van Balm -net of Glan=

Bonnie is one of over 60 students from
•across Ontario who have been awarded over
$75,000 in entrance scholarships to St.
Jerome's College which is federated with
the University of Waterloo.
"Bonnie has an enviable academic record
in high school," says College Registrar
Kevin Donelson. "She shows exceptional
promise for university studies, and we are
pleased she has chosen St. Jerome's."
St. Jerome's was founded in 1864 in the
Town of St. Agatha, west of Waterloo. In
1959, it was given degree granting powers by
the Ontario Legislature and thus changed its
name to the University of St. Jerome's Col-
lege. In 1960, it entered into federation with
the University of Waterloo. Today, the col-
lege registers students in liberal arts and
mathematics programs and degrees are
conferred by the University of Waterloo,
upon recommendation of the college.
Reach for the Top held
Huron County was host of the South
Western Ontario 4-5 Reach for the Top
Competition. The competition was held Oc-
tober 24 at Centralia College.
Teams from 12 counties participated in
the competition. questions were based on
1987 411 projects and general knowledge. In
an exciting final game, Waterloo County
beat Elgin County 230 to 195. The Waterloo
team consisted of Erie Schwindt, RR No. 1,
Elmira; MikeShantz, RR No. 1, St. Agatha;
Karen Howling, RR No. 1, New Dundee; and
Lori Isreal, New Hamburg. An enthusiastic
team from Temiskaniing also participated.

OBITUARIES
MARGARET CASE
Margaret Case of Seaforth died on
Wednesday November 11, 1987 at Huron-
view in Clinton. She was 97.
Born in McKillop Township, Mrs. Case
4Was the daughter of Thomas Beattie and
Margaret Smith, and the wife of Edwin
Case. Following their marriage the Cases
farmed in McKillop Township for years,.
and eventually moved to Seaforth where
Mrs. Case resided until moving to Huron-
view in early 1985.
She is survived by four daughters,
Margaret (Mrs. Elmer Larone) of Seaforth,
Mary (Mrs. Harrison Morse) Of Roxbury,
Nett Valk, Isabelle (Mrs. Joseph Marinelli)
of Sault Ste. Marie and Louise (Mrs. Ross
Smale) of Egmondville and three Sons,
George of Egmondville, Charles of
Streetsville, and Jack of Egmondville.
Also surviving are 17 grandchildren and
26 great grandchildren.
Mrs. Case was predeceased by one
daughter Agnes (Mrs. Frank Lamont), one
son Frank, and one sister Agnes (Mrs.
Stanley Garnham) and by four brothers
Thomas, Robert, William, and John
Beattie.
A funeral service was held Friday,
November 13 at Box Funeral Chapel, with
interment at Maitland Bank Cemetery.
Pallbearers were grandsons Toni Marinelli,
Bruce Lamont, Sandy Lamont, Ted La-
mont, Douglas Smale and Robert Striate.
A memorial service Was held at the
funeral home by the order of the Eastern
Star Chapter No. 233 ori Thursday,
November 12, 19117 at 9 P.M.
