their seasons: If any teams would like their

HOCKEY REPORT
Both the Novice and Atom teams were off
to impressive .starts on Wednesday
NNovember 4-withidentical scores -of -11-0
The . Atoms were victorious over Zurich
while Novice goalie Eric Groot recorded his
shut -out against Clinton.
Scoring the Novice goals were; Mark Bell
3, Jamie Campbell 3, Brock Weiss 2 and
singles by Chris Jones, Graham Keys, and
Greg Keys..
On Saturday the Novice shut out Goderich
2-0 with goals by Brad Hartman and Chris
Jones. Both goals were assisted by 'Mark
Bell.
The very young and inexperienced Tyke
team were defeated in their opening game
at Blyth on Saturday morning by a score of
8=1. Ryan' urin scored-Hensall's only goal.
BODY FIT CLASS
The Body Fit classes sponsored by the
Hensall Parks Board are holding an Open
House on Tuesday, November 17 at the Hen-
sall Recreation Centre from 7-8 p.m.

EARLY

Hensall United Church was filled to
overflowing for a rernembrance day service
on Sunday.
Young people from various youth
organizations were' present as .well as
Legion 'representatives. The groups took
part in the presenting of colours and led a
parade to the cenotaph afterwards.
Rev. Douglas Wright led his congregation
through the service and Jean Jacobi played
piano in the absence of the regular organist.
The Senior Choir sang "Almighty God
When I behold the Glory'' and Rev. Wright
spoke on "The Task of Remembering".
The Senior Choir now meets on Wednes-
day evenings at 7:30 at 'the church. New
singers are always welcome.
Next week is Anniversary Sunday at Hen -
sail United Church. Coffee and tea will be
served at a fellowship time after the wor-
ship service.
The Hensall Legion Remembrance Day
Banquet will be tonight, Wednesday, at the.
Legion.
NOVEMBER MEETING
The November 3 Meeting of Unit 3 United
Church Women was opened by the poem
"November .Again%,. Mary Brintnell
,presiding. Following the theme song and
prayer the worship was conducted by
Beatrice Munn "The Bread of Gladness Br-
ings Life".
Members answered the Roll Call by wear-
ing a poppy. Plans were set and members
assigned their duties for the upcoming
bazaar on November 27 at 3 p.m.
The Secret Pal Christmas gift exchange
will be held after the next meeting on
December. 1.
Loretta Riley gave the study from the
Mandate ''Nothing for Free". A minute's
silence was observed for Remembrance
Day after which The Lord's Prayer was
repeated. Pearl Taylor" read poems
"Friendship" and "Good Neighbour".
The meeting was closed ' with prayer:
Hostesses were Sheila Corbett and Phyllis
Parsons.
COUNCIL MEETINGS
At Hensall Council meeting on Monday
evening the winners of the Week of the Child
participation competition .were presented
with their certificates and prizes.
Pre-school and Kindergarten winners
were Ryan Groot and Stacey Butson. Grade
1 and 2' winners were Carrie Consitt and Lise
"Ijooseboom. Winners for grades 3,4 and 5
were Mark Bell and Brad Hartman. In -the
grade 6, 7 and 8 category Mindy Bell and
Brian Gardner tied for 1st place and Vic-
toria.Bisback. Congratulations to all of the
winners and thank you to everyone who par-

Nan Britton presiding.
Annie Reid's theme for the Devotional
was "Place Love as a Fragile Plant in your
Life and spend a Lifetime Cultivating a
Harvest of the Heart".
,Following the reading of the minutes the
roll call was -answered by 17 members, 50
visits were reported, Elva Forrest gave a
Treasurer's Report and the offering was
received and dedicated.
Unit 4 will provide lunch for the General
Meeting and is in charge of decorating the.
church -for' Christmas.
Audrey Christie gave the study on Native
.Indians based on a book by Chief Dan
George. Genuine Brotherhood is a Lovethat
Forgives and Forgets. •
Eileen Rennie was hostess and Dorothy
. Mickle was pianist. Lunch was served by
Dorothy Mickle and Mabel Shirray,

Wayne and Iris Payne and Amberley
visited Carl and Hilda Payne on the occa-
sion of Carl's birthday November 4.
Bruce and Ja'net Shirray enjoyed a visit
on Sunday with his mother Mabel Shirray.
Margaret Mole travelled to Dungannon
last week to spend some time with her son

Barbara Cooper presided at the organ for
the regular Church Service at St. Andrews
United Church, Kippeh on Sunday.
Rev. Lorne Keay's sermon was entitled
"The Marks of 'Conversion" Rev. Lorne
Keays is asking for your help in letting him
know of any Kippen Parishioners who are in
hospital. He will gladly viSit them if he is
made aware of such people. Don't think'
others will tell him, they are thinking you -
will!

the home of Mildted McGregor to view the
videotape "Creation in Crisis", a tape about
the present day problems facing farming
communities in Canada. Gayle Turner con-
ducted the worship service. Mary Broadfoot
presided at the piano and also pleased the
group with a number on the organ. The
hostesses, Evelyn Venner, and Joan Mc-
Callum served a delicious lunch during the
social hour and discussion period which
followed the meeting.
4-H NEWS
The "Munch Bunch" of Kippen 3 - 4-H
Club held their sixth meeting at Bruce(ield
United Church on October 27. This took the
form of a 4-H party. It was a lot of fun.
Members invited mothers and friends,
about 30 attended. All had a great time,
playing games about fruits and vegetables.
A great meal of salad, cold cuts, punch, ap-
ple juice, fruit cocktail, zucchini cake and
lots more was enjoyed by all.
On behalf of Kippen 3 - 4-11 members, I,
Barbara Fotheringham would like to thank
Barb Moffat and Janet Papple for leading
this-cluhartd-the-parents-for making the 4-H
party a big success. The achievement night
will be held -on Tuesday, November 24 at
Stanley Complex in Varna. Press reporter

WOMEN'S INSTITUTE NEWS
Kippen East will meet on Wednesday,
November 18 at 8:10 p.m. at home of Agnes
Eyre. Speaker will be Mrs. Ralph Smith
from Egmondville: She will be advising the
members on "Post Menapausal Years".
PERSONALS
Mrs. Emerson Kyle has returned home
from a wonderful eight-day visit with her
son and daughterin-law, Don and Carole
Kyle, who are living in Chilliwack, British
Queensway craft
For the month cf November Queensway
is fortunate to have the Bethel Reformed
Ladies each Monday afternoon to play
Bingo,with residents so Monday afternoon
everyone had a g5od time playing Bingo.
Following that the ladies led a Hymn Sing.
A nice afternoon for everyone. In the even-
ing Laurene Zehr, Annie Zielman, Ann
McBride, Ruth Seibert and Dawn Erb
were in and assisted with crafts. Residents
finished the beesvax candles, and stuffed
and sewed more pillows for the Craft Sale.
Afterwards the ladies shared a lovely
lunch of a variety of muffins and cheese
they had brought.
Tuesday morning residents had a good
workout at fun and fitness. In the after-
noon they attended the church service led
by pastor Sinasac. Pianist was Phillippe
Stickle. Father ,t Mooney also was in to pro-
vide Mass for Catholic residents.
Wednesday afternoon several ladies met
for ladies hour, a time to be pampered a
little, visit a little and enjoy a hot cup of tea
from the good china. Residents also exer-
cised their
xeccised'their lungs at choir practice. They
are practising in preparation for the pro-
gram they are giving at their Family
Christmas dinner December 13, 1987.
Thursday there was an excellent turnout
for the movie "Top Gun". Residents are
taking turns choosing the featured movies
each month. There is a wide range of
tastes, but Romantic Comedies seem to be
winning out.
Friday residents met again for crafts.

Columbia, about an hours drive from Van-
couver. Mabel enjoyed the lovely weather
and she commented that the trees still have
beautiful red leaves on them.
We are pleased to report that Mattie
McGregor has improved enough to return
from Seaforth Hospital to Maplewood
Manor.

Residents would like to thank little
Jessica Brockand her classmate's froin
Hensall Public School for so graciously
sharing several pieces of their artwork to
decorate Queensway walls.
Sunday was a very special and mean-
ingful day for many residents of
Queensway when the members of the Hen-
sall Legion came in and gave a Remem-
brance Day Program. For the people who
have served their country it especially
meant a lot. Thank you very much Hensall
Legion.
And again a special date to remember
November 18, 2-4 p.m. Queensway Craft
and Hake Sale. See you there!
Tuckersmith gets
$15,000 grant
The Township of Tuckersmith has
received a supplementary allocation of
$13,000 from the Ministry of
Transportation.
The Town of Seaforth has receiitiy
received the first payment of $16,910 on a
total grant of $1,184,000 from the Ministry
of the Envirotvment for improvements to
the sanitary sewer and treatment works.
