Halloween in-Hensall passes -without -incident -

AnotherHalloween. has passed safely.
There seemed to be more little spooks than
ever out on the streets of Heiman and they
were able to enjoy themselves completely
due to lovely weather, generous citizens and
friendly goodwill which was very evlJent
everywhere on Hensall's streets. A. large
number of homes were decorated to suit the
spooky season, some eemplete_witerie
music and scary monsters.. Tile lobbies of
Some buildings were decorated for the event
by caring hands of residents, and pumpkins
were seen everyWhere.
Thank you to the 'people of Hensall for.
making Halloween a wonderful, scary ex-
perience for the child in all of us. ,
THREE LINKS SENIORS
The Three Links Senior Citizens held their
first Euchre Party of the season October 27
with eight tables in play.
Winners were, lady's high Retta Baird of
Brucefield, lady's low Sadie Hoy, men's
high Percy Campbell and men's low Alf
Ross Sr. Lone hands - Pea'rl McKnight. •
Winners of the draws were - Myrtle
Taylor, Gladys Coleman, Mary Broadfoot,
Helen Theil, George Dowson, Hilda Payne
and Carl Payne.
The next Euchre Party will be held on
November 24. Everyone welcome.
Queensway
Monday ' several Queensway Nursing
Home residents enjoyed a singsong of old
time favorites in the cheery sun room. In the
afternoon they played Bingo with the
assistance of the ladies Auxiliary.
Tuesday they met at fun and fitness and
had discussion time afterwards. In the
afternoon Reverend Hawley led ,the church
service. Josie Ryckman was pianist and
assistants were Mary Neil and Ellie Van
Bergen. It was a lovely service.
Wednesday ' several residents bowled in
Zurich with the able assistance of Iva Reid.
Thursday was a busy day. Residents en-
joyed a visit from the Hensall . Nursery
school children, all in costume. In the after-
noon residents viewed the featured movie,
"Some Like It Hot," ,starring Marilyn
Monroe. In the evening they celebrated Oc-
tober birthdays at the monthly Birthday
Party. Birthday greetings to Myrtle Rodd,
Lavine Watson, Neil Regan, Roland Grenier
and Erna Schroeder. Residents were for-
tunate to have the Mount Children, Brad,
Dennis, Kevin, Julie and AndreW entertain
with saxaphone, trumpet and tamborine,
under the direction of their music teacher
Charles Kalbfleisch.
Friday was International Day featuring
India. Residents had a very informative and
stimulating afternoon. Immersed in the.in-
dian Culture, they listened to taped Indian
music, 'looked through Indian currency,
stamps; maps and books. They also enjoyed
sampling an Indian Rice dish prepared by
Selin Kallumadyil, who had also loaned
many articles to view. Sincere thanks to
Selin also Parkash and. Santosh Malik who

Barb Plumb of Northcrest spent a few
days last week with her sister and her hus-
band. Mr. and Mrs. Ken Lfiftus and family

A delicious pot luck supper was held last
Monday night in the lounge. The residents
would like to , extend their thanks to
Pineridge for the lovely cake which
everyone enjoyed.
Pearl McKnight attended -a .party -at -the
home of Viola Taylor, Seaforth last Tues-
day. Guest of honor was Ruth Thorburn who
is leaving next week for, Winterhaven,
Florida. •
Ida Dick.ert, Merle and Maegen spent last
Wednesday afternoon 'with ' Mrs. Sandy
McEwan at Lakelet. •
SHUFFLEBOARD RESULTS
High lady shufflers for October 29 were
Pearl McKnight 333, Isabel Rogerson 286,
Dorothy Brintnell and Gertie Moir tied for
third at 280.
. Top scoring men were Jack Consitt 328,
Elliot Layton 309, Percy Campbell and John
Pepper -tied -at 286.

Visitors with Sim and Mary Roobol
recently were Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Van
Dyke of Bradford, Mr. and Mrs. Ton f Kooy
of Centralia •and Mary's brother Anthony
Gelderland as well as his daughter-in-law ,
Mrs. Ron Gelderland.
Sim will be returning this week to St.
Joseph's Hospital in London for surgery..
HALLOWEEN PARTY
Approx. 50 children in a variety, of spooky,
enchanting or funny costumes turned up at
the Halloween party held just for them at
the Village Walk on Saturday. The kids took
their turn at marshmallow catching, bean
bag toss and relay races with balloons and
marshmallow. The winners of the coloring
contest were awarded their prizes and,
everyone received a bag of goodies as' well
as cookies and Freshie.

A large number of people have been in-
ouiringlately about team coats for various
teams and.clubs. In response a solution has
been found at a reasonable price. Coats will
be available for both children and adults
with the word Hensall being the only letter-
ing. Additional letters, crests„ names, etc.
May then be added by Team, Clubs or in-
dividuals at their own expense. The coats
will be blue with orange and white trim with
white letters, at an approximate cost of $40..
each. '
If anyone is interested in learning more

teams or organizations are interested, fit-
ting session can be arranged.

A large 'junior choir treated parishioners
at Hensall United. Church, on Sunday,
November 1 to a lovely rendition of "For the
Beauty of the Earth".

Saturday, the Baking Club met and
decorated cup cakes for the Halloween par-
ty in the afternoon. Residents had a great
shoe shuffling, toe tapping, good time with
the "Goderich No Notes Jug Band," One ter-
rific afternoon.

Friday, with India the country in the limelight. A number of artifacts from that country
were donated by santosh Malik of Hensall and Selin Kallomadyil, a nurse at the home.

Preschoolers visit Maplewood
This week'Maplewood Manor was filled
with the sights and sounds of Halloween.
On Tuesday residents prepared for the ar-
riyal of the nursery school. Forty
youngsters accompanied by mothers and
teacher Joanne Holland delighted everyone
with their colorful costumes, formed a cir-
cle in the middle of the living room and sang
Halloween songs. After a walk through
Maplewood to visit any folks who could not
attend the performance, they settled into
the dining room to draw faces on pumpkins.
Their handiwork was greatly appreciated.
After treats were handed out the children
went back to the nursery school.
Later on Tuesday afternoon the euchre
players got together. They were Pete and

On Wednesday morning Rev. Wm. Barber
conducted the worship service. Winona
McDougall played the piano for the hymns.
.Thursday morning Carol 'Carter led the
sing song. Many of the residents attended
this musical session. Two residents, Ed An-
drews and Austin Matheson, certainly Con-
tributed to the choir.
On' Thursday afternoon Drusilla Leitch
led her dedicated followers in exercise. Un-
fortunately Drusilla will be heading south
shortly. If anyone is interested in leading
her fitness club for the winter months,
please let us know.
