. Hazel Elizabeth Matheson, of Maplewood
Manor, Seaforth and formerly of Clinton,
died in the Clinton.,l'ublic Hospital on Oc-
tober 22. She was 75 years old.
Mrs. Matheson was born in.Tuckersmith
Township on November 10, 1911 to the late
Frederick Robert and Mary Ellen (Layton)
Pepper. On November 12, 1932, she married
Austin Matheson at the Pepper farm in
Tuckersmith Township.
• Mrs. Matheson was a member of Ontario
Street .United Church, the church's UCW, a
member of the Tuckersmith Ladies' Club
and a member of the Friday Afternoon
Bridge Club.
• She, is survived by 'her husband and two
daughters, Mrs. Curtiss (Faye) MacDonald
of Kitchener ' and Mrs.. Joe (Glenda)
Gaborieau of Winnipeg as well as three
granddaughters, Janette MacDonald. and
Shawna and Jacquie Gaborieau.
Mrs. Matheson is also survived by one
. brother, Walter Pepper and his wife May of
Clinton as well as a dear friend and cousin,
Pearl McKnight of Hensall.
Funeral and committal services were
held on October 24 at Ball and Falconer
Funeral Home, Clinton, with Rev, David
Woodall of -Ontario -Street United Church.
LILLIAN KERSLAKE
Lillian Kerslake of Seaforth died Sunday,
October 25 at the Seaforth Community
Hospital. She was 79,
Born at Toronto, she was a daughter of

Elizabeth, Gibbs. She was a member of
First Presbyterian Church, Seaforth, and
had been Sunday school superintendent at
the church for many years, She was a past
president of the Canadian Red Cross.
Mrs. Kerslake was predeceased by her
husband Reginald Kerslake, two sisters
and one brother.
Friends were received at the Whitney-
Ribey,funeral home and'a funeral service
was held Tuesday. Burial was in Maitland -
bank Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Jim Murray, Donny
Dalton, Bob McMillan, Harry Scott, Jack
Muir and Harold Turnbull. Flower bearers
were ohn Steffen and Cathy Turnbull

CIJRRIE - Ralph and Wendy of Seaorth are
happy to announce the birth of their first
child, a precious daughter, Kirsty Faye,
born on October 11, 1987, weighing .8 lbs;, 6 '
ozs. in Stratford General Hospital. Proud
Grandy is Shirley Roberts of Burlington and
first-time grandparents are Boots and
vn Grace Currie of Denfield.
Interment in Clinton Cemetery.
JEAN ELOISE KRUSE
Jean Eloise Kruse of R.R. 4 Seaforth, died
Tuesday, October 20, 1987 at her home, She
was 67.
A daughter of the late Charles Durngey and
former Fanny Lemmon, Mrs. Kruse was a
member of the order of The Eastern Star
and a homemaker at her residence in
Egmondville.
Surviving are seven sons, Charles
Richard of Stratford, George Wayne of
Bayfield, Sydney Gene of Wingham, Laurie
Dean at home, John Paul of Seaforth, Roy
Darren of Calgary Alberta, Timothy
William ' of R.R. 5, Seaforth; and one
daughter, Heather Anne (Mrs. Brian
McMicheal) of Stratford. Also surviving' are
twelve grandchildren,
She was predeceased by two brothers Roy
and Syd, a sister, Aldeen and her late hus-
band George Sillery Kruse who died in May
of this year.
The Order of the Eastern Star held a ser-
vice on Wednesday at the funeral home.
Friends and relatives were received at the
Whitney-Ribey Funeral Home where' a
funeral service was held on Thursday.
Burial was in Maitlandbank Cemetery.
Pallbearers for the funeral were Ted
Wales, George Case, Ken Smith, Bill
Wilbee, Bill O'Shea and Jim Brown Sr.
MARGUERITE NICHOLS
Marguerite Nichols, a resident of the
Hillside Nursing Home, RR 5 Stratford and
formerly of Mitchell and Fullerton
Township, died at her residence on Sunday.
She was 80 years old.
She was the former Marguerite Black and
was born in Tuckersmith Township on
September 12, 1907, a daughter of the late
William Black and the former Margaret
Broadfoot. On July 15, 1939, she was mar-'
ried to WIlliam J. Nichols who predeceased
her on April 24, 1963. Following their mar-
riage the couple farmed at Lot 21, conces-
sion 4 of Fullerton Township.
Mrs. Nichols was an elementary school
teacher and had taught at Gould's school,
public schools in Hamilton, and later at Mit-
chell Public School. She was a member of
Knox Presbyterian Church, Mitchell, and
the Melba Ladies of the church and was also
a member of the Gould's Women's Institute
and the.Mitchell Senior Citizens.
Surviving is one son James and his wife
Joan of Fullerton township; one daughter
Elaine and her.husband James Thomson of
Downie Township; two brothers, George
Black of Oakville and James Black of Bel-
mont, as well as seven grandchildren. She
was predeceased by one sister Jean.
Friends were received at the Lockhart
Funeral Home where funeral services were
held on Wednesday with Rev. William Milne
officiating. Interment was in Knox
Presbyterian Cemetery. On Tuesday after-
noon, members of the Gould's Women's In-
stitute paid their respects at the funeral
home in a body and on Tuesday evening`
members of the Mitchell Senior Citizens
held a service at the funeral home with
Muriel Seebach in charge.
Expressions of sympathy were shown
through floral tributes and memorial dona-
tions made to the Stratford Generat Hospitat
Building Find and C,T. Scan funds, Heart
and stroke foundation, Grace Lutheran
Building fund, Gideon Bibles, Erland Lee
(Museum) Horne, Muscular Dystrophy and
Ritz Lutheran Villa. •
IDA MAE GORDON
Ida Mae (Hunter) Gordon, a lifelong resi-
dent of Cranbrook, died Sunday,. October 11,
1987. She was• 80.
The youngest of a family of 12 born in the
same house MrS. Gordon was a daughter of
the late John Hunter and Louise Zimmer.
She taught school for many years and
travelled extensively following her
retirement.
She was predeceased by her husband Lyle
in 1968.
A funeral was held from the M.L. Watts
Funeral Home! Brussels, on October 13,
with interment in Cranbrook Cemetery. The
service Was conducted by Mrs. Gordon's
Minister. Rev. Steven Webb.
GEORGE HOWATT
George Everett John Howatt of Seaforth,
died Sunday, October 25, 1987 at St.
Joseph's Hospital, London. He was 81.
Mr. Howatt is survived by his wife the
former Roberta Sanderson; daughter Irene
(Mrs. Arnold Storey) of Milverton and
sons, Lloyd of Clinton, Carman Of Clutton
and Murray of 8I h.
Also surviving are one brother Edgar of
Westfield, six grandchildren and one great-
grandchild.
Ile was prede'cea'sed by two sons; Robert
. and Ross and two sisters, Agnes Sanderson
and Sergi Storey.
The family still receive friends at the
Whitney. Ribey Funeral Home, 87 Goderich
Street• West Seaforth until 2 p:m. today,
when a funeral service will be held. Biter -
Merit Blyth Cmemetery, Blyth.

tended the Winthrop United Church's 4th
Annual Halloween Party on Friday, October
23.
Prizes were given out to the best costumes
in three different categories. This year's
