The guest speaker was Mr. Graham from
the Royal Botanical Gardens, Hamilton,
ho-gave-'atr excellent -talk -on -preparing—
' your garden for winter.
Some of the tips Mr. Graham gave were:

away Oct. 14, 1985. So many times we think

of the TOWN OF SEAFORTH, not later than the 13th day of November,
1987, a notice of appeal setting out the objection to the by-law and the
reason's in support of the objection. -

By-law 35-1987 has the following purpose and effect:
By -taw 35-1987 applies to Part Lot 12, Concession 1 in the Town of
Seaforth. The property is currently the siteofa residence and two out-
buildings which are tri be demolished. The proposed use, a residence,
will be permitted as the zoning is changed from "FD (Future Develop-
ment)" to "R1 (Residential Low Density)" on an approximate 1 acre por-
tion of the property fronting on Brantford Street. The total parcel is ap-
proximately 5 'acres with the rezoning applying to the north-east por-

The Seaforth Women's Institute held ' its
"Public Relation" meeting at the Orange
hall. Each member invited enough for one
table of euchre and there were 17 tables in
play

OBITUARIES
Viola Taylor won the-lonealand_prize and
other .winners were; high, Marjorie
Caldwell; low, Olive Smith; mens high, Neil
Bell; low, Gordon MacKenzie and. lucky
cups, Eva McCartney and Eldin Kerr. The
draw was made for the -quilt and the lucky
winner was Cheryl Wilkinson of Chalk St.
HELEN HUGILL
Helen Hugill of RR 2 Seaforth died in
. University Hospital, London on Wednes-
day, October 7, 1987. She was 78.
Born in North Walsingham Township,
Norfolk County on September 19, 1907, she
was the daughter of the late James Hunter
and Martha Hagan.
She attended schools in North Wats-
Ingham Township and Tillsonburg and
trained as a secretary. She was later
employed as a secretary in Tillsonburg un-
til her marriage.
In 1933 she was married to Charles Mit-
chell Shearing ih Tillsonburg. The couple
lived in St. Thomas and Delhi prior to mov-
ing to Clinton in 1938 when Mr. Shearing
purchased the. O'Neil Grocery Store. The
Shearings operated -the Clinton shop until -
1953.
Mrs. Shearing was tato-employed as a
secretary at CFB Clinton until its closure.
While living in Clinton she was an active
church worker and a member of Wesley
Willis United Church. She was sslso a
member of the Ladies Auxiliary to the
Clinton Public Hospital.
In 1968 her husband died.
In 1975 she was remarried to Joseph T.
Hugill in Clinton. The couple lived in
Seaforth. There, Mrs.'Hugill attended the
First Presbyterian Church.
Mrs. Hugill is survived by her second
husband and two children, William J.
Shearing of 'Morrisburg and Gail Wild of
Mississauga. Also surviving are step-
children, Joyce (Mrs. George Miller),
Karen (Mrs. Ron Driscoll) and Alma
(Mrs. Laverne Hugill), all of Seaforth; six
grandchildren, Karen, ' Becky,' Scott,
William, Brent and Suzanne and three
great grandchildren, Haley, Jaime and
Laine.
One brother, Harold Hunter of Hamilton,
also survives.
-Mrs. Hugill was predeceased bytwo
sisters, Rita and Olive, and two brothers,
Jack and Bailey.
A funeral service was held October 10 at
the Beattie i' neral Home, 'Clinton.
Reverend William Barber officiated and
interment was held at the Tillsonburg
Cemetery,
GLEN ROBERT CAMERON
On Saturday, October 17, 1987 Glen
Robert Cameron, formerly of Seaforth,
died at St. Mary's Hospital in Kitchener.
He was 59. -
Mr. Cameron, son of the late Mary and
George Cameron of Seaforth, he was a
long time employee of Thibodeau'Finch
and a volunteer driver for the Canadian
Cancer Society.
He is survived by a friend, Helen Crystal
of Kitchener; brother Arthur and his wife
Dorothy of London; sisters, Ethel Boyes of
Seaforth, and Muriel Elliot of Kitchener;
sister-in-law, Jessie Cameron of Hensall
and several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Cameron was predeceased. by one
brother Wflliarn John .and one sister
Isabel. •

ALFIE SYKES .
Alfie Sykes of the Seaforth Manor died at
the Seaforth Cotrununfty Hospital on Tues-
day, October 15.
Born in London, England he worked
the boats boats in his younger years until ill health
forced him to be hokpitalized. He had been a
resident of Seaforth Manor for a number of
years. He was very proud of his heritage
arid an avid sports fan. He paid .partieular
attention to the Toronto Blue Jays and
Toronto Maple Leafs,
Mr. Sykes is survived by his wife Nina,
who he Married in 1975.
A funeral service was held at the Seaforth.
Manor on October 15 with the Reverend
Cheryl Ann Stadelbauer-Sampa m charge.
Pallbearers were Ken Chambers and
Manor residents, Ed Dunn, Patrick Ryan
and Len Bloomfield. Interment was in
Maitland Bank Cetnetery with the Whitney-
Ribey Funeral Directors in charge
Mrs. F. Paulus of Main St. won.the afghan.
Congratulations ladies. Lunch • was served
and a short business meeting followed.
PEOPLE
On Thanksgiving Monday visitors from
' Cambridge with Norma Steele were Vivian
' Cook, Marian Winwood and Verda Kinzie.
Mr. and Mrs. William Brown of Jarvis
Street,. Seaforth, have returned home
following a month long trip to Scotland.
Mr. and Mrs.' Jack Frost of St. Thomas
were in town last week visiting Mr. Frost's
sister Mrs. Jean Dills of Dublin, who is a pa-
tient in Seaforth Community Hospital.
