For the first time in Seaforth history there may be whigh school hockey team. Formation of the team is still in its initial stages, and there will have to be a discua••• sion amongst those who control theextra- curricular activities at the Seaforth District High Sehool, but . right new' chances are pretty good there will be a • team, •• , , "We have a concern that we don't want to interfere with basketball and other pro- grarns,-"--said Jim—Moorer:twhe will be-- coaChing the team if there is One. " "But I don't think We will interfere and it •• • looks like we will go ahead." Mr. Moore said there is a concern in the county that schools are duplicating some of the programs offered by 'the com- munities. AU 'county communities, for ex- ample, already have a minor hockey system. But, the only, place. basketball is offered is in schools. For this reason a basketball team will be given preference over hockey if the two are found to be in conflict. But for now Mr. Moore doesn't believe the two will come into conflict. Mr. Moore, who is also the vice-principal at S D El S lias_harl a long_haekgnumsliin _ hoakef and played high school hockey himself in London. :He has also been a local minor hockey coach and has helped at the hockey ,school. • There have been 35 kids who showed an interest in playing for the club, They are willing to give up their lunch hours two or three times every week to get in practice' time. While there is only an hour for lunch, , Mr. Moore said he feels they should beable ' to get in 35-40 minutes of practice each time. Mr. Moore said it looks like the hockey 'team will be a young team, with .most of the players coming from Grades 9, 10 and 11.
