Opening weekend ca dismal one
The Seaforth Centenaires Junior p hockey
club got their season underway this
weekend with a .Friday night season opener
in Clinton, and a home game against Mit-
chell on Sunday afternoon. "
Neither game went very well for the
Seaforth club as they lost to Clinton by a
score of 9-6, and let Mitchell by them by a
score of'7-5. "
Scorers for the Centenaires .on Friday
night were Steve Schroeder, Ron Price,
Kevin Melady, Jason McNichol, Brad Beut-
tenmiller, and Brad Carter. • Assists were
credited to Kevin Williamson, Mike Bettles,
and Mike Schroeder:

Mr. Anstett puts part of the blame for his ,.„
team's loss on Sunday on the slow start, the
club got this. year in terms of ice time. Most
of the other clubs have had more ice time
than the Centenaires and are in better shape
and a bit more together.
"We just ran out of legs again," said Mr:
Anstett,
Penalties also hurt the duke great deal as
the 'Mitchell team capitalized on many of
their power play opportunities. Four of their
seven goals were scored when Seaforth was
a man short. Seaforth got only one power
play goal.
The Centenaires' next game willbe in'
Seaforth this Friday when they will take on
Thedford. In the, meantime Mr.: Anstett is

shot just inside the Mitchell blue line. The
assist on the goal went to Ron Price. Carter
also got the third goal on passes from Mike
Betties and Brad Beuttenmiller giving
Seaforth a 3-0 lead over Mitchell at the end
of -the first-period:—
But Mitchell came on strong in the second
period, and Seaforth took a lot of penalties,
getting four to Mitchell's one.' The result
was Seaforth barely managed to hold on to
their lead through most of the period. They
got only one goal from Mike Betties while
Mitchell got three. With 22 seconds left in
the second period Mitchell managed to tie
