Youth bowling
starts with close
to 40 registered
Y.B.C. bowling started this week with
close to 40 children registered.
Bantams are bowling each Wednesday
after school and teams are just'being set up.
High singles this week were Kevin
McDonald with a 120 and girls was Carrie
Bannon .bowling a 100. High doubles and
averages also went to Kevin McDonald with
a 206 and a 103 respectively. Girls high went
to Carrie Bannon with a 190 double and a 95
average.
Juniors and seniors are bowling Sunday
evenings at 6:30 pm. High junior bowlers
this week were Robin Scarrow with a 157
single, 428 triple and a 143 average. Tracie
Carter bowled a 215 single, 477 triple for a
159 average. .
Senior bowlers were Brian Love with 198
single, 540 triple for a 180 average while the
girls high went to Laura Pletsch with a 98
single 284 triple and a 95 average.
Team standings will start next week.
PEE WEE CHAMPS -- The best of five series for the Pee Wee Boys Fastball champion-
ship came to' an end last Wednesday evening as teams from Brussels and Winthrop
played the fifth and deciding game. Brussels took the game by a score of 14-7 and are
the Tri -County champions. The two teams were very well matched and all four of the
other games were -decided by one run, with one game going into extra innings. The
members of the winning team are: (from the back left) Bonnie Jacklin,•Gary Yuill, Todd
Rice, Robin Summers, Shawn Jacklin, Dan Beuerman (front left) Brad Beuerman, Tim
Machan, Brian McArter, Greg Mulvey, and Ross••Machan. Missing is coach Carmen
Mackin.
Seaforth bowlers down Zurich
Seaforth Tigers downed Zurich 39-9 in
'Men's Intertown Bowling League action,
• played, in Zurich on Saturday, Sept. 26.
George.Love led Seaforth with games of
225, 287, 238, 259 and 221' fora 1,230 total.
Murray Bennewies had high games of 270,
286 and 260 for 1,195:
Jack Fuller bowled high games of 342, 236
and 241 on way to a five game total of 1,160
Neil Beuerman had top scores of 255, 263
and 225 ending with an 1,104 total.
Roger Edwards won two games and had a
high game of 223.
Frank Palen led Zurich with games of 280,
209, 353, 210 and 270 for a 1,322 total.
Ron Donn had high, games of 219, 213 and .
299 and a 5 game total of 1,065.
Don Kirk, .with scores of 224, 211 and 240 .
had a 1,053 total: .
After two weeks of., action, the Seaforth
Tigers have out scored their, opposition 6612
- 291. .
The top averages for the Tigers are Mur-
ray Bennewies 249; George Love 238; Jack
Fuller 232 and, Erich Matzold 225.
' Next. Saturday, Seaforth plays in Clinton
and hosts Mitchell, in a make up game on
Sunday in Seaforth. On Saturday, October
10, Stratford Bowl -Mer will bowl in
Seaforth.
Nomination deadline looming
The Seaforth Recreation Committee will
be presenting three annual RECOGNITION
AWARDS to citizens who serve the com-
munity in the following categories: 1. Ser-
vice to. Sports. 2. Civic Service and 3.
Humanitarian Service.
These awards will be given based on the
individual's contribution to the community
in a volunteer capacity. Anyone may
nominate an individual for any category by
submitting a written nomination stating
some background and, reasons fon their
choice to: Seaforth. Recreation Department,
Box 885, Seaforth, Ontario. The nominations
must be submitted no• later than Monday,
October 5, 1987 at 5 p.m.
The awards will be presented at the An-
nual',Community' 'Recreation Conference, to•
be held Saturday, October 17,1987. If anyone
is interested in coming to the conference,
contact the organization you belongto or the
Recreation Department at 527-0882, for
more information.
Seaforth and District MINOR HOCKEY is
now in full gear with practise times as
follows:
Saturday, October 3 - 7:30-9 a.m. - Midgets,
9-10:30 a.m. - Pee Wees, 10:30 -noon -
Novice; noon -1:30 p.m. - Mites and seven-
,year-olds,.4r5:30 p.m. - Atoms and 5:38-7
p.m. - Bantams.
Also on Monday, October 5 to Friday, Oc-
tober 9 Hockey School times will be as
follows: 4:30-6 p.m. - Junior, 6-7:30 p.m. - In-
termediate, 7:30-9 p.m. - Senior.
On Saturday, October 10 times will be:

Fall Recreation Programs include:
FURNITURE REFINISHING will be held
at the Highschool on Mondays. from 7:30 - 9
:30 p.m. for 10 weeks beginning October 5.
Registration fee is $25 and the instructor is
Harvey Beuermann: Each person is asked
to bring their own small piece of furniture to
work on. -
MICROWAVE COOKING will be held at
the highschool on Tuesdays from 7:30 - 9:30
p.m. for three weeks beginning October 6.
Registration fee is $20 which includes all'
food. The instructor will be Charlet Empr-
ingham. There will also be a three-week
course in November for Christmas
microwave cooking.
MIXED ADULT VOLLEYBALL will be
held at the highschool on Wednesdays from
8 -10 p.m. for 20 weeks beginning October 7.
Registration fee is $30 and the instructor is
Terri Dale. This is a fun, recreational pro-
gram for all adults.
MEN'S BASKETBALL will be held at the
highschool on Thursdays from 7:30 - 9:30
p.m. for 20 weeks, beginning October 8.

Badminton -Wood Carving Children's Dance
Registration is $30 and' the instructor is
Marc Robinet. This will give you a chance to
get into shape, as well as have a fun night
out.

527-0882 between 8:30 a.m. and 5 p.m. or
register on the first night of the program.
Other programs to watch for in the near
future are badminton, children's dance and
wood carving.
SENIOR SHUFFLEBOARD continues
every Wednesday afternoon from 1:30 to 4
p.m. Last week's winners were:
Ladies - Rose Pringle, 384, Ethel Haist,
299 and Helen McKenzier, 269.
Men - Charlie Perkins, 406, Gordon

The Seaforth Library presents the MAGIC
OF STORYTELLING with Dan Yashinsky
on Wednesday, October'14 at 4:15 p.m. Tales
of quests, journeys, trickery and destiny are
interwoven into the magic of his storytell-
ing. Younger •audiences will enjoy stories
with strong patterns and sing -a -long chants.
Dan Yashinsky focuses on stories of heroes
and heroines, dangers and dilemnas to
fascinate everyone. This great event is for
children in Kindergarten to Grade 5. Admis-
sion will be $1 per person. '
