Residents enjoy barbecue
Seaforth Manor ladies got their hair done
for accreditation last Monday.
On Tuesday some of the residents got in-
volyed in the exercises in the sitting room,
Some df the ladies..cutfoam outside and fill-
ed a cushion' •
On Tuesday afternoon residents•viewed,a
film on the • Wright Bros. about Life .on an
Airplane. They also saw the Tap Dance Kid..
On Wednesday afternoon Bethel Bible
Church invited residents to a worship and
song service. With the help of Mr. Lobb 17
residents were able tq attend the service.
On Thursday residentsand volunteers en-
joyed a'noon barbecue. All enjoyed hotdogs,
amburgess-and-ice-cream-sundaes outside
as the weather was beautiful.
Friday morning was once again exercise
time with Drusilla Leitch in . charge.

-On Friday afternoon residents played.
Bingo. Lucky bingos were won by 'Ilene
Omand, Eva „Netzke and Doris Smith tied
then Eva Netzke won again. Penny Caza,
Cassie Nicholson, Edith Salo, Frank Smale,
Margaret Smaie, ,Maxine Elliott and Alfie
-Sykes were also winners.
The Arc Industry workers .have been on

Howard and Joyce Atkins of Hensall and
Kevin Bierling of Dashwood visited their
Aunt Margaret and Uncle Frank'Smale.
Dr. Stapleton, visited Norma Jeffery.
Ross Scott from Maplewgod Manor and
his daughter from British Columbia visited

Audrey Cameron visited.Verda Cameron..
Ursula and Mary visited their brother Leo
O'Sullivan.
Tom Nigh and son Bill were in to visit his
grandmother Helen Morris. •
Pat and Rose Altman were In to visit her
parents Dave and Eva Netzke.
Ross and • Lillian Nicholson, Barb Alex-
ander and son David were in to visit Cassie
Nicholson.
Kathleen Hernacki and boys vacationing
at Bayfield, formerly of Michigan, visited
her brother Pat Ryan and took him out for a
drive.

SENIOR BARBEQUE-The Searorin Manor held 'their fourth barbecue of the summer
Thursday as part of its program to get the residents into the fresh air. A meal of ham-
burgers, hot dogs and juice prepared by activities director. Jackie, Racho and helpers,

Maplewood residents enioy
The residents of Maplewood Manor know
that soon•the autumn leaves will' be falling
and the weather will become chillier. The
activities then will be mainly indoors. But
until that time comes they'll. enjoy their,
• Walks to and " from the main street of
Seaforth and their•, "lawn chair days"out-
side with the sun beating down en them.
• "OnMonday, those who enjoy a good game
of bridge got together for a game., They
were Jean Johns, Jean Guy; Anne Crerar,
Austin Matheson and Lloyd Rowat.
Tuesday the card sharks gathered for an.
:afternoon of euchre. Many of the residents
:enjoy a good game of euchre. Those •who
.participated were Pete and Wilson
;Tremeer, Anne Rule, Gertie Taylor, Ed and .
'.Jean Johns, Jean Guy, Grace Holland, Anne
Crerar; Elsie Shaddick, Lloyd Rowat and
;Isa Stanley. The door prize was won by Ed
`Johns.
On Wednesday the residents were invited
;to the Bethel Bible Church for a service. The
:guest speaker for the afternoon was
Reverend R. Holley. There was a sing song
OBITUARIES
PEARL STEVENSON
Pearl Stevenson of Brussels died Wednes-
• day, August 19, 1987 at the Wingham and
District Hospital. She was 83.
Born in Grey Township she was a
' daughter of the late Otto Schnock and the
former Miriam Hatherly,
Ste is survived by two daughters, Mary
and husband Glenn Nichol and Ruth and
husband John Rapson, all of Brussels and
three sons, Stuart and wife Eleanor, Bill
. and wife Carol, all of Brussels, Murray and
wife Susan of Waterloo and a daughter-in-
law, Goldie Stevenson of Kitchener.
Also surviving are 16 grandchildren and
14 great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Stevenson was predeceased by her
husband John H. Stevenson, one brother
John, one son Gordon and a grandson Tom.
Friends were received at the Peebles
funeral Home, Atwood and a funerpl service
was held on Saturday. Lieutenant Barber of
:the Wingham Salvation Army and Doug
Purdy officiated.
Burial was in Brussels cemetery.
: Pallbearers were Doug and Paul Steven-
son. David and Albert Rapson and Steven
and Fred Stevenson.
Flower bearers were Wendy, Lois, Bryan
I and Ron Stevenson. Danny Blake and Corie
. Smith,
MARY ISOBEL ELEANOR THOMSON
• Mary Isobel Eleanor Thomson of RR 2
.Kippen died Tuesday, August 18, 1987 at the
:Clinton Public Hospital, She was 62.
The former Mary Storey, she is survived
• by sons John of RR 2 Kippen, Bruce of RR 2 ;
Hensall and daughters, Beatride (Mrs. Ron'
Fleming) of Brueefield and Mary (Mrs.
Paul Eisler) of SL Colurnban.
Also surviving are a brother William
Storey of Kinburn and seven granchildren.
Mrs. Thomson was predeceased by her
husband Robert D. "Bert" Thomson in 1984.
Friends were reeeived at the Hensall
Chapel of the Michael P. O'Connor Funeral
Horses and a funeral service was held on
Friday. Interment followed in Hensall
Unien Cemetery.
. • As expressions of sympathy donations to
the Canadian Cancer y5octety would be
appreciated.

accompanied by her granddaughter Jaqua
Lobb, who played the flute. Ed Andrews, a
resident of Maplewood and Anne Downey, a
volunteer, were the two people that drove
the -residents to and from the service. When
the service was over a very nice lunch was
served. '
The residents who enjoy music gathered
in the upstairs lounge on Thursday morning
to listen to Carole Carter play the piano.
Wendy Gowan and Janette Holmes helped
the residents sing along.
B -I -N -G -O spells Bingo. Friday was the

for her birthday,. Iia was -glad to see her.

• day to,play. There were five winners for this
afternoon. They were Anne Henderson,
Elsie Shaddick, Wilsons Tremer : won twice
and the lucky cup was won by Ann Rule.
The weekend was a very quiet one.
There were quite a few visitors in this
month. In to see Austin Matheson were Cur
tis, Fee and Jeanette McDonald, who are
Austin's son-in-law, his daughter and his
granddaughter: Pearl McKnight from Hen-
sall was also in to see Austin.
Donald and Mabel Lamont were in to see
Arnold Lamont.
Mrs. Guy had Ben Reihl, Catherine Reihl,
Mzs.•Ben Reihl and Russell Reihl in for a
visit.
Marlene Britton, Jane Auston^-and her:
daughter; Bud and Hilda Austin, were in to
see Mrs. Holland.
Mr. Rowat's visitor's for the month were
Peter Rowat from. Mississauga and his two
daughters.
Mary Connelly was in to,chat with Anna
Sherrin.
• Gertie Taylor had Elisabeth Smith and
her husband.'
Mrs.•Gloode, who is Mr. Allen's daughter
