Maitland, 0, 0. F., on Friday evening

good success in his work here. A

-Last week's Brussels Poat has adver-
tisements giving a detailed statement of
the election expenses of the two candi-
dates in the recent election for the Com-
mons in East Huron. The expenses of
Dr. Macdonald are given at $174.45 and
those of Dr. Chisholm, M.P., at $119.57.
-Mr. Robt. Taylor has sold his 50
fain farm in Kinloss, half mile south of
Whiteohuroh to Mr. Sohn Leggett, Mr.
Taylor will have rift auction sale of farm
stook and implemente oti Toeeday, Jan-
uary 31st. Everything to atild. See

-In our items of twenty years ago on
page three of this issue, in the list of
County Councillors for this district,
the names of the East Wawanosh
representatives were in some manner
overlooked. They were Mr. Robt.
Currie, our townsman, as Reeve, and
Mr. F, Anderson, the present Treasurer
of East Wawanosh, as Deputy Reeve.
-Our former townsman, Mr. J. J.
Anderbon, of Melita, Man., who has
retired from the Reeveship of the Muni-
cipality of Arthur was recently presented
with a handsome pipe and compli-
mentary address by his fellow members
of the Council. Mr. Anderson's many
old friends here will be pleased to learn
that he is now:much improved in health.

First meeting of Council for 1905 was
held in the council chamber on Jan. 9;
the members thereof being: John E.
Ellis, reeve; and Messrs. Wm. Beeoroft,
Gavin WilSon, thos. H. Taylor, jr., and
Wm. 1. Y'arlisl councillors, who were all
livesent.

Reeve Ellis having occasion to return
home again at once, on account of serious
sickness in his family, it was moved on
motion of Mr. Wilson, sec'd by Mr. Tay-
lor, that Wm. Beecroft be appointed
chairman balance of this meeting in his
place.
Beeoroft-Wilson-That P. Porter-
field be reappointed clerk at a salary of
$90, this advance being considered just
and right, on account of the prospect of
extra work being laid on him, in making
up special rate on Collector's Roll to
meet annual payment of Railway Deben-
tures from half of the township; and
further, that Finlay Anderson 'be con-
tinued as treasurer.at a salary of

were again appointed auditors of the
township assessment for last year, 1904.
Taylor -Parks -That Wm. Robinson
be reappointed assessor at a salary $65,
also, that the ratepayers be again noti-
fied same as last year, that all dogs and
bitobes when once entered on the Roll,
shall be kept there for taxation, unless it
can be shown that an error had been
made at the time by the assessor. -Car-
