Sister Mary's parent, the late John and L.ouise Eckert farmed in McKillop Township and raised a family of eleven children, six girls and five Sister Marythe eldest child of the family; born on June 30,.1918; received her elemen- tary school education at -Manley School in McKillop Twp., attended'. Diibliii Continua- tionSchool for Grade 9-13_and entered the ,Ursuline Convent in Chatham on October 15., 1936. On August 28,.1937 she was received in- to the..Ursuline Order and took the name Sister Mary Josepha. • Sister Mary was guest honour at an open house on Saturday at the Dublin Com- munity Centre where many of herrelatives, friends and family gathered'to extend their hest wishes andenjoy a time of fellowship' with her. A Mass in her honour was offered by Father J.J. Carrigan at St. Patrick's Church, -Dublin on Saturday evening. • • Sister Mary was presented 'with a Scroll . . from Pope John Paul II with his Blessing and an engraved wrist • watch' from her . farhily. ' • . Friends and relatives were present from Strathroy, Londb)i, Zurich, Stratford, ' Kinkora, Kitchener. New Hamburg, Cam- bridge, Owen Sound, Seaforth, Walton, Mit- Chen, Dublin and St. Columban. WEDDINGS ARMSTRONG-HESSELWOOD Cheryl Louise Armstrong and Bradley Dale Hesselwood were united in marriage in a double ring ceremony on Saturday, August 1, 1987 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Clinton. Priests, Father Joseph Hardy of Sarnia, and Father John Pluta of Clinton performed the ceremony. Matron of honor was Una Armstrong of Stratford, friend of .the bride. Bridesmaids were Nan- cy Laudenbach of Toronto, cousin of the • bride, Wendy Murray of Dublin, sister of the groom, Barb Forbes of Clinton, friend of the 'bride and Shelley Becker of Clinton, friend of the bride. The best man was Rod Merner of Hohnesville, friend of the groom. Guests were ushered by Dan Reid of Blyth, friend of the groom, Kevin Armstrong of Clinton, brother of the bride, Mike Becker of Clinton, friend of the groom and Len VanWonderen of London, friend of the groom. Flower girl Was Christie Medd of Seaf`P-" cousin of the bride. Readers were Ji," of Seaforth and Jason Murray of soloists were Lorrie Baker of Clinton, and Smiths Doherty of Clinton. KERCHER - NEWTON Vows exchanged in Gorrie St. Stephen's Anglican' Church was decorated with candle, and peach tapers and flowers with peach accents for the marriage ceremony of Ila Newton and Ross Kercher. Rev. Brenda Shipton officiated and Jean Underwood, organist, played traditional wedding music. Chad Smart assisted with programs, The bride was attended by her daughter Beverley Smart. Kelvin Jervis was best man. Daniel Galvin Jr. was ring bearer and Cottle Smart was flower girl for their grandmother, who preceded Ile and Ross down the aisle. Janna Smart, .grand- daughter, and Linda Galvin each read a seripture. Following the ceremony a dinner and reception followed at Wroxeter Hall. Entertainment was provided ,by the Mapletorte Sweet Adelines. The evening ended with a dance. Predeceased by. two sons Robert . and Donald, one brother George and two sisters Mary, Andrew and Bertha Pym. • • JOHN L HAMILTON Mr. John L.,(Jack) Hamilton of the Callen- der Nursing Home in Brussels, and former- ly of Bluevale and Atwood, passed away in Winghani and District Hospital Thursday, August 6,1987 in his 75th year. • Surviving are three daughters Mary„ Mauna, and Marcia, and one son Nesbit. Also surviving are three grandehildern Karen,.Kris, and Ashley and one sister Mrs. Mauna Kennedy. ' Predeceased by his wife Margaret and his parents the late G. Nesbit Hamilton and the former Gertrude Duncan. As requested by Mr. Hamilton there was no visitation. The funeral and committal service was held at the Peebles Funeral Home, 141 John St, Atwood on Tuesday, August 11, at 2 p.m. Interment in Elma Cen- tre Cemetery. -As expressions of sympathy, donations to the War -Maps of Canada in recognition of Mr. Hamilton's war -service and his love for children would be ap- preciated.
