The heat wave has really affected
'everyone in the area: Residents of
Maplewood Manor were really feeling It. As •
a result" of the heat, the bridge game ,fir
Monday was cancelled.
"uesday was a good day to get everybody ••
together for a euchre game. There were
three tables of players. The residepts' who
participated were Pete and Wilson
Tremeer, Gel'tie Taylor, Ed Johns, isa
Stanley, -Lloyd Rowat, Elsie Shaddick, and
Jean Eliiotte. Anne Downey, a volunteer
. and Mrs. McIver and Mrs. Kerr who are out-
side visitors, came and played euchre too.
In the evening the Huron Strings came in to
flay for'the residents. They are thanked for

• Footcare day was Wednesday. The Huron
County Health Unit provides this service

Seaforth Manor residents spent last Mon-
day afternoon outside enjoying the beautiful
weather. Last Tuesday.tbey enjoyed an
outside barbecue of hot dogs and ham-.
burgers with watermelon for desert.
Wednesday afternoon Rarti Alexander
brought in a birthday cake on the occasion
of her mother, Cassie.Nicholson's birthday.

Thursday afternoon a talk session was
held on the residents' school days. The talks
brought about many a good laugh.
On Friday afternoon Reno bingo was
played outside with the winners Frank and
Margeret Smale and Alfie Sykes.
Queensway residents
• Hello! Welcome to Queensway News.
Residents began Monday morning with lots •
of mental stimulation as they played their
spelling game and geography game. There
are some excellent spellers at Queensway.
Joyce Pepper joined residents in the after-
noon as pianist at choir practice.
On Tuesday Shirley Luther led the Wor-
ship Service with lots of singing and a
thought provoking message.
Wednesday morning found residents in
the Activity Room exercising to lively
music. The Hensall Playground children
visited in the afternoon with an energetic
program of music and song. They also
distributed crafts they had made at the
playground sessions. To end the program
residents sang some of their songs for the
children and then served a snack. Thank
you very much Masan Playground aid
especially to the dedicated leaders.
Thursday residents enjoyed Baking Club
as they made sgtfares and cookies. They've
been experimenting with some diabetic bak-
ing. In the evening they watched their week -

Birthday wishes go out to Elva Pullman
and Anne Henderson. Elva 'Celebrated her
birthday in Stratford Hospital. Her husband
John went down to visit for the special occa-
sion. Anne *Henderson •celebrated her birth-
day with her family and then a party was
held for her at Maplewood on the following
day. It was enjoyed by all.

Sunday they tried their hand at outside
games at a small group picnic. They ate a
delicious lunch provided by the kitchen staff
and finished off the afternoon with lames,
one of which was tossing water filled
balloons, What a way to cool off. There were
lots of prizes for everyone. Thanks to Joan
Beierling and her daughter Heather and
also Adam Gascho for assisting with the
games and their help with serving the picnic
lunch. They are appreciated.
