The mayor's group also spoke to the ex,

mutual concern and Kopas explained the
role of the ad hoc group and what it hoped
to achieve.
"We need to share and pool ideas and
resources and, realistically, we had the op-
portunity and the time to look at the county -'
from a perspective that is different from
the traditional perspective," he explained.
'`Our purpose is to mobilize the county and
to collectively address concerns. We're go-
ing through a transition and we're not in-
sensivtive to the needs of those in rural
areas. ' '

"This meeting wouldn't hove come
about unless Exeter threatened to secede..
So how do we solve our frustrations?," he
asked. "These types of meetings are good
and we, can only resolve our difference
through discussion. We have concerns that
have to be addressed and representation
might be one problem. The Composition of
the executive team is also important." -
Only two of nine members of the coun-
cil's executive team are from urban areas
but Warden McBurney indicated that two
urban representatives declined his invite-
' tion to sit on the executive committee.
Despite the jnbalance on the committee,
McBurney said he "never felt the ex-
ecutive committee was bfged."
The meeting was •a positive step
towards solving the rift between them, ac-
cording to Seaforth Mayor Alf Ross.
"It was a productive meeting because we
had dialogue," said Mayor Ross.
"I think that's been the major problem,
we haven't been talking. If we've got a pro-
blem we have to get it talked through and
see if we can't' solve it."
