descendents hold
annual reunion
" The descendents of Thomas and Gertrude.
Williamson gathered at the home of Murray
and Conriie•Nesbitt; Auburn for their annual
reunion on July 12 with 46 in attendance. •
Games, contests, guessing dates of wed-
ding pictures and a candy scramble were
enjoyed •by all with Dianne McGrath,
haron-IVIcGrath-and—julie-Smittrin-charge7--
.. The newest baby was Brian Regele; son of.
Charles and 'Carol Anne, He was given a,
new dollar.
A delicious barbecue supper was enjoyed
by ali. It was followed by a short buainqss
meeting with Brenda Kitching acting for
President Ken Williamson.
•Legion lawnbowhng a success
• The Legion hosted the invitational bowl-
ing tournament on the local bowling. greens
• last week. T.his'iS the second year this event
• has taken place. Seaforth's entry in the cora-
. • petition was not successful but the event
• itself was .quite a .success. This will be a
yearly event from here on.
On the sports scene the Zone Slow Pitch
• tournament' is coming up on July 25 at
•' Lucknow: Seaforth. hosted this tournament
last year with quite a' few local supporters
'attendingthe games. It is hoped there will
• be some going to Luckn�w with the .team
.which has all the players signed up now:
The Legion!s two -ball., foursome is'
scheduled for August 8. Anyone wishing to
play is asked to sign the listprovided on the
bulletin board. Anymembers who are single
will be welcome to come and play as there
are Other men and women who are single

golf, but please sign as soon as possible to

tOurnament. The Seniors Tournament is
scheduled for later in August. There will be
more on this tournament at, a later date.
Dent forget the Auxiliary. is having
another Smorgasbord on Sunday, August 9..
At the going down of the sun and in the
morning we will remember them.
Heat limits Manor activities
it was such a hot week last week that
the activities at the Seaforth Manor were
limited.
Ice cream cones were served on Monday
afternoon and everyone enjoyed them:
, On Wednesday afternoon a few games of
bingo Were played and on Thursday after-
noon Shirley Luther of the Salvation Army
came for worship and song.
Friday afternoon Father Caruana held
mass with residents of his parish. It will be
the last one•untilSeptember as he is going
for holidays in Malta.

Jean and Lloyd Morrison of Thornhill
visited with Madeline Slattery.. Mr. Mor-
rison taught with her husband at SCI in the
‚forties.
• Ina and Ellen Scott of London visited with
brother Bill Scott. Also visiting were Larie
• Shaw Of Toronto and Marg Callandee ot
London.

Mr. and Mrs. Jack Wallington from Burl-
ington and Mr: and Mrs. Cyril Brown of
Kinkora visited sister Helen Morris, also
brother-in-law George Coyne of the Ritz
Villa, Mitchell.
Lucy Sills and her daughter were in to
visit Madeline Slattery.
Audrey Cameron visited mother-in-law
Verda Cameron.
• Jack Nicholson and family visited his
mother Cassie Nicholson. •
Dave and Eva Netzke were visited by
daughter Rose Altman of Seaforth, Roy and
Dianne Altman, grandson and Kim Pylik,
great granddaughter, infant son Antony Lee,
all of Kitchener. They took a pictures of the
five generations. •
Mary K. Ryan was out for the day with her
daughter Mary Margaret.
Carol Geddes had her husband Chas Ged-
des visit.

• Historical society holds meeting
The annual Meeting of the Huron County
Historical Society was held in the restored Ex-
eter Town Hall, and was sponsored by.the Ex-
eter and District Heritage Foundation. The
new list of elected officers for 1987/88 for the

to the Huron County Pioneer Museum and
donated $15,000 for equipment and books in
the new archives. The model and essay con-
tests at the county fair had many participants
and prizes of money were awarded.
The Huron Historical Notes was again
published with relevant papers. Four general
meetings were held at various communities
in the county, namely, Brucefield, St. Helens,
Nile and Exeter. The minutes and local
histories of said communities are recorded for
the archives. Members at large number over
160 persons.
Three delegates from the Society (Margaret
McClOre, Janeth Sangster and Isabel
Theedom) attended the annual conference of
the Ontario Historical Society held this year
in Woodstock. Three members from Hayfield
Historical Society also enjoyed the
conference.
Volunteer service awards were presented to
five members of the Society at the ceremony
in Owen Sound in May by Eddie Sargant,
MPP. This program by the Ministry of Citizen-
ship and Culture is now in its third year and
11 members of the Huron County Historical
Society have been honored.
1988 will mark the 100th anniversary of the
Ontario Historical Society and Huron branch
is proud to have been affiliated with it since
1964.

Carol Carter thanked Murray and Connie'
for their hospitality. The 1988 reunion *ill
be held at the home of , Ken and Anne

Residents have
lazy hazy week
at Maplewood
It was a, quiet week at Maplewood Manor
due to the recent heat wave.
Residents had a bridge game_ with Jean
Johns, Lloyd. Rowat and Austin and Hazel
Matheson upstairs while downstairs euchre
was enjoyed with Ed Johns, Isa Stanley and
staff:
• On Tuesday two tables of euchre were en-
joyed by Pete. and Willy -Tremeer, Jean
Johns, Gertie Taylor, Isa . Stanley, Jean
Elliott, Austin Matheson and Anne Downey,
a volunteer'.
Many activities w'ere limited to sitting
under the trees out frOnt looking for a breeze
or in front -of. the•very busy fans. '
Carol Carter came in to provide the music
for the sing song, enjoyed by all. Residents
welcomed back Mae Habkirk from Seaforth •
Hospital and Monica McCurdy from a holi-
day with family. '
Numerous visitors called at Maplewood
during the week:
CAMP AWAHO WINNER -The Ouanahar
Ringette camp held near Halibvrton Was
successful with 14 girls between the ages
of 9 and i5 attending a session on June 28
to July 4. The camp invites girls from all
over Ontario to practice powerskating and
other skills two hours per day on the ice
and go kayaking and Sail boating. Robyn
Carnochan wins an award for camper of
the week on ie for her general effort and
willingness to learn.
