The local golf course was the setting for
the . Legion Men' S Golf Tournament on
•Saturday. Sixty golfers participated with
Kevin Bennett's even par round of, .72, the
-
winning score. The Calloway Handicap
System was'ased for the remaining scores to
allow beginners and experienced golfers'
an equal chance to win a prize. This low net
trophy went to Ken Doig Jr, and Doug Smale
was the winner of the coveted golden boot
• Close to the pin on No. 5 was Kevin Bennett
and on No. 9 Ken Doig Jr. Todd Doig won the
longest drive. All golfers enjoyed a steak
• dinner -and
At Ladies Night, 80 ladies participated
with visitors from Bluewater and Exeter
joining in the fun of nine holes of golf and a
delicious meal. Thirty ladies were the reci-
pients of prizes. •

was played on Sunday with a poor turnout.
Only four golfer's took part. This is open to
all members. There -are two more rounds of
play with the best two to count. This year
• there will also be a low net champ(on.
Leading after the first round is tarn Doig
with a 70, -followed by Doug Elliott with 72. '

Players may play at anytime that day but
mustylaypreferred lies on the cut portion of
fairway in play only; and. must have scores

, Junior Morning gets underway Tuesday,
June .30 with a bus trip to the Canadian
Open The cost is $12 and includes the bus
ride, admission to the Open, a free clinic put
on by the pros, prizes and a drink. This is the
practise round and juniornay • bring
cameras. They will have a greet chance to
get autographs. The trip is open to members
• and non-members.. Bring your friends and
• sign up by calling the• pro shop. The bus
leaves at 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday, June 30 and
returns to Seaforth by 8 p.m.
This week is a busy meat the course with
the. hospital fund raising tournament on
• Wednesday, June 24 and the Minor Hockey
Tournament • on Saturday, June 27. There
are still openings for, the Minor Hockey
Tournament. Just call the Pro Shop. The tee
• is closed Wednesday and Saturday until 5
On Sunday there is a two -ball at 2 p.rn. so
• golfers are rerninfe'd to get out early and
beat the rush.

SLO-PITCH WINNERS - Seaforth Public School was the overall winner of the Regional
Slo-Pitch tournament held June 17 at the Clinton Public School. The boys team won
five games to place first and the girls team won three, lost one and tied one to piece se-

Anniversary service for Comarty
Presbyterian Church will be held on June 28
with Mrs. Lucie Milne of Mitchell as guest
speaker.
Two representatives of the Gideon Soeie-
ty, Donald Jolly and Earl Desch, conducted
the service in Cromarty Presbyterian
Church on Sunday morning.
Mr. Desch, speaking un the hiory of. the
Gideons said that they were organized in
Canada in 1911 and now have 3500 Canadian
members. They work in 136 countries of the
world. Besides giving -new testaments to
Grade five students, they place them in
hotels and hospitals, and give a white testa-
nittit to graduating nurses:
Mr. Jolly preached the sermon based on
Isaiah 40:8 and Hebrews 4:12. The choir
sang Footprints of Jesus.
Following the church service parents and
friends of the Sunday School pupils enjoyed
a program showing some of what they had
learned through the year. The superinten-
dent, Alice Gardiner Welcorned all and
Kimberly Bertens sang a welcome solo:
The primary class presented a skit show-
ing the story of Peter and John healing the
lame Man at the dot of the temple Taking
part Were Adam Miller as Petet, never
Elliott as John, Lisa Pullman and Carrah
Ternplernan. Chrissie Miller, Julie Merlyn
and LarMadardiner retited-the-23rd-psalin
and sang. The senior class pretented a skit
with Christopher Scott es Noah and Steven
Pullman AS his Seri Sherri, Leanne Gar-
diner, Sherri Elliot, Sarah Elliott and
Mithelle Martyn as Noah's heighbOurs.
Their teacher, Eva Laing, explained what
they had learned during the 'year. The Sun-
day School sang 60 choruses.

Seaforth Public School was the overall _
winner of the Regional Slo-Pitch Tourna-
ment held June 17 at the Clinton Public
School with the boys placeing first and the
girls placing second over six other schools.
The boys won all five games in the tourna- •
ment with about half of the team making a
special effort to bat some runs knocking the
other teams out of the top spot. Ina tremen-
dous effort, the team beat Blyth by a score
of .9-2, Hullett by a score of 23-2, Clinton
Public, School by a score of 11-6, Clinton
Christian by a score of 7-5 and Huron
Centennial by a score of 13-5. The big hitters
on the team were -Tony Greidanus, Mike
Miller, Mike Boven, Brian Love;Rod Smith,
Brad Schroeder and 'Jason McNichol.
The girls team also made an exceptional
effort by winning three games, tying one
and losing one game. They won against
Clinton Christian by a score of 12-9, Huron
Centennial by a score of 9-5 and Blyth by a
score of 8-5 and lost to Hullett by a score of
8-4 and tied with Clinton Public School by a
score of 6-6. The big hitter for the girls team
was Lisa Henderson who had a good day
batting in three home runs.
For the boys teams -Clinton Christian,
Hullett and Huron Centennial all won three
games and lost two, Blyth won two games
and lost three, Clinton Public School won
qne game and lost four and Vanastra lost
five games. . •
For the girls teams-ffullett and Huron
Centennial both won four games and lost
one game, Clinton Christian won two and
lost three games, Clinton Public School won
one game, tied oneand lost three, Blyth won
one game and lost four and Vanastra won
one and lost four games.
