Medical student -addresses- CWL

' The Catholic Women's League (CWL) of
St. Columban Church held their June
meeting Wednesday evening in the parish
hall with 23 members present.
Margaret O'Reilly, president, opened the
meeting with prayer followed by the
minutes and treasurer's report. There will
be a pilgrimage day at Holy Name parish in
St. Marys on July 1.3 with a mass at 11 a.m.
and a procession at 1:30 p.m. Anyone atten-
ding should bring their own picnic lunch.
Invitations have been sent out to the sur-
rounding church women organizations to
the annual June Social at St. Columban on
June 17. Frances Melady will visit the sick
for June.
Mildred Cronin read a report on the
Diocesan Convention held in Windsor. The,
national convention will be held in London
from August 17 to 21: Anyone wishing to go
should contact Marg O'Reilly.

Neighbors of Eldon and Gladys Allen, who
are moving at the end of June met on
Wednesday night at the home of Bob and
Ruth Laing for a farewell party. Winners at
euchre were Lillian Douglas, Carlyle and
Penny Meikie, Isabel Kerslake and Charlie
Douglas.
• Following an address of good wishes, the
Aliens were presented with a pair of Gre-
cian Urn planters.
• Several from Cromarty attended Hibbert
United Church anniversary in Staffa on Sun-
day morning. Cromarty Presbyterian's ser-
' vice was cancelled.
Charlie and Lillian Douglas left Monday
to visit cousins, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur For-
ward at Elgin, in eastern Ontario. Later in
• the week they have been invited to celebrate
their 35th wedding anniversary with the
Rev. Robert and Mit. Mackie of Toronto.
Margaret Allen, Guelph, spent Saturday
with her parents, Bob and Ruth Laing. Dur-
ing the afternoon we took a trip to see the
beaver darn at the back of Jean Carey's
farm. We didn't see the beavers but found
their dam and their house farther upstream.

Melady, a medical student at Western
University, London, was introduced by
Theresa Cronin, Don spent six -weeks along
with some other medical students in Haiti
last summer imniunizing children and
young- mothers against • contagious
childhood diseases. A total of 2,200 children
and women were innoculated during the six
weeks. Don was thanked by Marg O'Reilly

Centres in Haiti.
FAMILY REUNION
• One hundred and thirteen descendants of'
the late John and Louise Eckert attended
the 13th annual family reunion on Sunday,
June 7 at the Dublin Pavilion and Recrea-
tion Centre.
Hosts for this ,year's , reunion were Fred
and Bette Eckert and family of Cambridge.
