her kidney transplant. She also had high
praise for the transplant program which is
why she is in such good health today.

Congress set
The Fourteenth Annual Ontario Pork Con-
gress will be held a't the Stratford Coliseum
from -Tuesday, June 23 to Thursday, June 25,
1987.
•The education program will start at 10
, a.m. each day in the Upper Kinsmen Hall.
The four programs are spaced one hour
apart. The program topics for all three days
are: building Better Genetics For The Com-
mercial Producer - How We Do It; how The
Purebread Breeder and A.I. Serve -The In-
dustry In Holland; genetics From An In-
dividual Breeder's Perspective; and role
and Opportunity of Individual Breeders in
the U.K.

PEOPLE
GRADUATES
Douglas Wright of Ottawa spent the
weekend with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Art
Writ of John Street, Seaforth.
Mrs. Art Wright and son Donald and his
wife Marilyn, of Clinton, attended the
, .funeral last Tuesday afternoon at Listowel;
of Mrs. Wright's brother-in-law, David'
Davidson. He died Sunday, May 31. Donald,
" a nephew, was a pallbearer. Burial took
pl=ace at Fairview Cemetery, Listowel.
MICHAEL JOHN COLEMAN,son of Mr.
and Mrs. Jack Coleman, RR 1 Zurich,
received his Bachelor of Applied Science
degree in Electrical Engideering: Manage-
ment Science Option, at the University of
Waterloo Spring Convocation on May 30.
Mike•graduated on the Dean's Honour Roll,
placing second in his class. He has accepted
a position with Bell Canada in Ottawa, and
he will be joining a subsidiary firm in
Washington D.C. later this year.
ARTHUR BURNETT SOCKETT
Arthur Burnett Sockett, of Willowdale,
died Wednesday, May 20, 1987 in North York
Hospital. He was 63.
Born and educated in Mount Forest Mr.
Sockett was the son of 'Phos. and Isabel
Sockett. In 1942 he enlisted in the RCAF and
saw service in Italy. After the war he con-
tinued his education at Rehabilitation
School, Toronto. In 1950 he graduated from
McGill University with a degree in
Mechanical Engineering. For the past 20
years he was President of Compact In-
dustries, Toronto.
Mr. -Sockett is survived by his wife, the
former Doris Wood of Markdale; daughters,
Susan (Mrs. Jas Harrington) of Oakville
and Karen (Mrs. Wm. Jewell) of Burlington
and son Steven of Pickering.
Also surviving are six grandchildren;
brother Glen of Downsview; sister Bess
(Mrs. Mac Brown) of Willowdale and sister
Edna (Mrs. Neil Bell) of Seaforth. •
Funeral services were held May 23 in
Toronto with interment in North York
Cemetery.
JAMES BAKER
James (Ail) Baker, formerly of Hay
Township and the Kilbarchan Nursing
House in Seaforth, died Tuesday, May 26,
1987 at the Exeter Villa Nursing Home. He
was 85.
A son of the late Peter and Nancy Baker`
Mt. Baker was predeceased by six sisters,
Ellen Adams, Elizabeth Ryan, Kate Adams,
Jane Kipfer, Mable Ferguson! and Susie -
Ainsbourongh, and one brother, Jack Baker.
Friends were received at the Whitney-
Ribey Funeral Dottie and a funeral service
was held Friday. Burial was in Bayfield
Cemetery.
GEORGE KRUSE
George Kruse, of Egn'iondville, died
Wediresday', May, 27, 1987 at the Seaforth
Community Hospital. He was 7L
A son of the late Richard Kruse and the
former Martha Jane Piety, Mr. Kruse had
ben an employee of Tu'ckersmith Township
prior to his retitement. He teas a 50 -year

Legion, Branch 157.
Stirviving are his wife, the former ,Jean
Dungey; seveti sons, Charles Richard, of
Stratford, George- Wayne, of Bayfield,

Mime; John' Paul, of Harpurhey, Roy Dar-
ren, of Calgary, Alberta, and Thnothy
William, of RR 2Seaferth; and orie daughter
. Heather Ann (Mrs: Bruce McMichael) of
Stratford
Also surviving are 11 grandchildren
Friends were received at the Whitney-
Ribey funeral home and a funeral service
was held on Saturday Burial was in
Maitlandbank Cemetery.
.The Royal Canadian Legion held a service
ursday"and a Masonic service was

OBITUARIES
CYRILBENEDICT FI.ANNERY
Cyril Benedict Flannery, of Michigan and '
formerly of Seaforth, died Monday, May 25,
1987 at his home in Michigan. He was 70.
Mr. Flannery served overseas with the
Royal Canadian Artily during the Second
World War. He lived in the Waterloo area
from 1968 to 1972, where he was in the spor-
ting goods business. Since that time he had
resided in the Detroit, Michigan area where
he was a land developer and tavern owner.
He was a member of the Jaycees and was
also heavily involved in various recreation
departments in the Detroit area.
Mr. Flannery is survived by his wife, the
former Edna Mary Wunder, daughter Dian-
na Grace Flannery of Windsor and son Tim
and his wife Laurie of Waterloo.
Also surviving is a grandson Dylan; three.
sisters, Catherine Reynolds of Guelph, Mar-
tha Miller of Dearborn, Michigan and
Geralda Dolan of Halifax, Nova Scotia; and
one brother John. of Seaforth.
He was predeceased by two brothers, Lou
and Jim and one sister, Thereto.

She attended St. James School, Seaforth.
Tanya was the recipient of four General
Motors Co -Operative Student Awards in
Recognition of outstanding contribution to
General Mptors of Canada Ltd. while at
University. Tanya has accepted a position
with Magna International as a Mechanical
Engineer.
