"Family" was the theme for the United
Church Women's Joint meeting of both units
held IVIay 5 in the church basement,
Margorie Humphries ,was in charge of
devotions. Marie McGavin was painist.
Marie Coutts ,read scripture, Psalm 128.
Meditation . on the Fainily was given by
Mary Humphries. Marjorie Humphries led
in prayer, followed by recipe-for—family
.Marie McGavin, leader for, Leadership
and Development, introduced the guest
speaker Joy Daymond, who spoke on the
Community Psychiatric Services of Clinton,
Goderich 'and Wingham. There are many
-other services available and much informa-
tien was given and. many questions were
answered. A film, The Invisible Wall in car-
. toon was shown.
Marvin Godkin presided for the business,
opening with a pow% "What God Is".
Marilyn McDonald reported the recent ex-
ecutive meeting and read correspondence.
Thank you cards were read, An invitation
was accepted to Moncton Church, June 9 at 8
p.m. with a car load to attend. A donation of
$50 was approved to be sent to the Bible and
The Junior choir led by• Rev. Lamble
presented the Anthem, "Psalm of the Good
Shepherd" with the Congregation' joining in
with the refrain, "'I.11e.Loru is my shepherd,
there is nothing I shall want".
One of the scriptures. was dramatized' by
the Sunday school numbers, •
A very impressive dedication service was
held when Rev. Bonnie Lamble asked Barry
and Olene (Dundas) McLeod and Natasha to
come to the front when Olene dedicated to
the Glory and Praise of God, 'gold candle
sticks in memory of her. parents Torrance
and Olive Dundas. Graeme Craig, clerk of

Sunday school in their memory,
It was announced the Junior Choir. Prac-
tice would be held Thursday, May 14 at 4:15
p.m. as June 7 is the Anniversary service at
Bluevale Pesbyterian Church and the recep-
tion of new members of the confirmation
class. Communion will be held Sunday, June
14 at Walton Church: June 7 is the church
picnic sponsoredby the Sunda rSchool.
The confirmation class met Sunday,after-
noon and the Youth Group went to Bluevale
in the evening.

Friendship House. •
U.C.W. pins have, been ordered to com-'
memorate the organization's 25th Anniver-
sary, orders to be taken through the units.
The U.C,W,'s to sent a gift of $25 to the Mis-
sion and Service Fund,
Several items were brought back from the
board meeting. Reports were given from
several committees. The Blyth Festival sup-
per will be catered to on,August 23. The beef
.barbecue, put on by the Walton 11, unit, was
announced for June 27 with supper to be
'taken out. A committee was to be chosen to
clean the kitchen on Monday, May 11.
The meeting was closed with prayer
followed by a social half hour during which a
lunch was provided by Margaret Bennett,
Margery Ritchie, Ruth Thames, Alice
Searle and Phyllis Mitchell.
CHURCH NEWS
' Jim and Mary Mann were greeters Sun-
day morning at Duff's United Church.
Pianist was Glenda Carter. Ushers were
Dean Hackwell, Ross Bennett and Bruce
Clark, Scriptures were read by Steve Fritz.

they planted marigolds, which they all hope
will turn into beautiful flowers.
Thursday morning they- enjoyed the
movie of the week which was called
"Mother Theresa, A gift for God." It gave
an insightful view of this very remarkable
lady. Then at 2 p.m. they had the monthly
meeting of the Drawing Club. This month's
theme . was Mother's Day and all the
drawers did a terrific job.
Friday afternoon Ladies Hour took place.
The Ladies enjoyed hand massages, make-
up application, tea and music. '
Finally, on Sunday, May 10 which we all
know as Mother's Day, Queensway held a
Mother's Day Tea. Residents had the
pleasure of welcoming and listening to
George Mathonia and friends who supplied
entertainment for this special day.

Flowers inmemory of the late Mrs. Clare
Veitch were placed in the Cranbrook church
by her family,
Mrs. Goldwin Knight spent a recent
weekend with Mr. and Mrs. Hector Knight,
Picton.
Mrs. Donald Perrie and family visited on
May 3 weekend with Rev, Jas and Mrs. Per-
rie and family, North Pelham.
Mr., and Mrs. Doug Thiel, Kitchener,
visited on May 3 with Mr, and Mrs. Jack
Conley. Other callers included Mr. and Mrs.
Bert van Donkersgoed, West Montrose, and
Mr. and Mrs. Frank Remley, Guelph.
Mrs. Don Cotton was admitted to Univer-
sity Hospital, London, on May 4 and under-
went. surgery May 5. She is reported doing
nicely.

Wednesday, May 6 when Mrs. Harbottle was
guest speaker. -
WI MEETING
The May meeting of the Cranbrook
Women's Institutewas held May 7 at the
home of ,Mrs. Wilfred Strickler with 10
members and four visitors enjoying a lively
plant auction. The auctioneer Mrs. John
Vanass, had no trouble getting bids. After
the auction all went in from. the garage and
had coffee. ,
The meeting opened in the usual way with
the Mary Stewart Collut and the Lord's
Prayer. Minutes were read and approved. A
minute's silence was held in .memory of a
very faithful member, Mrs. Clare Veitch.
Meetings and programs were planned for
1987-88. Mrs. G. Knight and Mrs. Bob Lock-
ing'served lunch. The June meeting will be a
mystery car tour.
