Mcllwraith photo. Legion rewards bowlers at banquet The Legion Bowling Leaguehad their Banquet and Trophy presentation last Saturday night. As usual the Ladies Aux- iliary catered to a delicious dinner which • was enjoyed by all present. Don Wood thanked the ladies on behalf of the bowlers. The winners' of the regular season were "Al's Kids" consisting of Captain Marg Smale, Annie Malcolm, Barbara Scott, Al Nicholson,' Larry Broome and John Cairns Sr, . High Average Trophies went to Ann Wood 205 and Don Eaton 216., High Triple went to Helen Nicholson 817 and Larry Broome 797. High' Single Joan Eaton 285 and Bob Doig 339. Low Triple • winners were; Norma Eisler and Peter Malcolm and Low Singles were won by Jean Cairns and Ken Coombs. • Twoteams tied for low team, Brian Barry's team and Helen. Nicholson's team. The playoffs were also won by "Als Kids" in a close contest. Low team for the playoffs was "The Swingers". The league couldn'toperate without the spares and the following were the top spares. A presentation was made on behalf of the league. to three couples who have bowled with the Legion league since its inception 26 years ago. They were Jack and Doreen Eisler, Al and Helen Nicholson, and Gordon and Barbara Scott. Larry Broome who did such a good job running the euchres during the winter in- forms us they will start again in the fall. Comrade Al Nicholson says there are still a few membership -cards waiting to be pick- ed up. Please pick them up at the earliest convenience. This Thursday, May 8 is the 42nd anniver- sary of "Victory in Europe". A day well remembered by all those serving in the forces at that time -and their families waiting for them to return home. • Last Saturday afternoon Branch 156 was visited by members of the St. Marys Legion Branch.
